  1. Hey Agentic AI promoter companies — free UX idea 🎁

When a user copies text from an AI chat, detect if they're accidentally grabbing boilerplate/label text too and flash a warning:
⚠️ "You're copying the template header, not just the content!"

Small nudge. Could save a LOT of embarrassment 😅

  5. Somehow the order of my „recently closed tabs“ list in Safari (on iOS at least) is upside down. Means, the oldest are on top and I‘d have to scroll two kilometers to reach the one I just accidentally closed. Who at Apple thinks this is a good idea? Was it always like this or is this a recent change?

    They fail because of basics.

  7. Hey @kidlightbulbs, got another feature idea for unstream.stream.

Some of my friends send me music recommendations by just sending me a link to Spitify or YouTub, or occasionally Tidal Sometimes without even bothering to include any artist name or title.

It would be great to to be able to paste those links into Unstream and get search results as if I'd entered the name of the artist linked. Bonus points for the right album, double for the right track: )

  8. In next episode of #ObviousMíša we will look at the horrid #UX of #landscape keyboards on #iOS (Android is the same).

In what universe is it a good idea to just streeeetch the keyboard across whole screen and kill 90% of the real estate?

You don’t even need to do any design magic there. Look up ancient #Nokia #Ngage and copy what they did.

  10. In the spirit of #sovereignCloud just moved my mastodon S3 from cloudflare to scaleway (well, still uploading).

Scaleway has nice prices, little buggy, but pretty UI/UX and is also carbon friendly as my S3 bucket lives in Paris.

  11. Coin Bureau just dropped a video called “Crypto And AI Will CONVERGE In 2026!!” and it leans into the USDC, Circle, and AI crypto narrative.

Bigger theme I keep seeing: AI needs money rails and proof, crypto needs better UX and real demand. If they collide, self-custody and open standards matter even more.

  12. My 1.0 version of my Chrome extension for batch screenshot just got approved

I built it for my own needs but maybe other people like it. I wanted to automate design audit and UI QA for products I was working on. I wanted to maintain a list of URLs locally or a shared, hosted, list and just be able to automatedly screenshot them all full page at multiple different widths.

Have a go and if it's useful (or not) for you I'd love to hear about it

  18. @scottjenson As a UX practitioner with ADHD, most such animations irritate me, because they are distracting, yet serve no purpose beyond pure aesthetics.

In this example, hiding the controls also makes them more difficult to discover. They're also more tedious to hit, since you only see the click target after it appears on hover over the list item.

IMHO, this one isn’t just a matter of personal preference; the “slide-y animation” simply is objectively worse #IxD.

    P.S.: DEBATE ME! 😁😁😁

  23. @jlargentaye @blogdiva @marioguzman this is a problem I see right across tech – every year we pump out a new batch of CompSci grads (or just folks who hit the tech job market) who have ben taught only what will fit in the very short time allotted, prioritising what will land them a job

there’s barely time to get them up to speed on whatever the current framework or language hotness is, and certainly no time for “non-essentials” like ⚹checks notes⚹ good #UI design or #UX patterns (much less silly little things like “ethics” or “social impact of tech” 😕)

we certainly don’t seem to be teaching them the history of their craft – what’s been tried & proven helpful, what’s been tried & proven unhelpful (or harmful) & has been discarded. I see so many people reinventing crap software (incl. OSes) & website UI & UX that, frankly, we’d already figured out 20 (or 30!) years ago were a Bad Idea™ & found better solutions for

sure, sometimes the reason we didn’t implement something at the time was that the tech to support it wasn’t quite there yet (CPU, RAM, GPU, connectivity, storage, hardware miniaturisation, whatever) & those ideas should be revisited – but without time to transfer that generational knowledge to the next batch of technologists, new folks keep reinventing shit that should have been permanently relegated to the scrap-heap of software (& hardware) history

its the “those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it” of tech 💁‍♀️

  26. Guess what tapping on those 3 dots do ?

I'd expect a menu but got a flag-as-inappropriate action which cannot be retired. I tried twice so I accidentally sent 2 alerts to #Discourse moderators due to bad #UX

The part circled in red is just advertisement which I've hardly ever seen on official free software projects' support forums 🫤

Finally: that thread is about support for multiple #OAuth sources (not available)

Could you remind me why people started hating #Mailman ?

  27. In @enafore interface, every time I try to write a post I'm constantly distracted by new posts popping up just below where I'm typing. I have ADHD, which makes this kryptonite for me. But it must be a bit distracting for anyone.

It would be awesome if the posting box filled the screen, requiring me to manually to scroll down to see my feed. Or even better, put the compose box in its own tab, separate from the home feed.

Please, think of the easily distracted 😟
