AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
My kingdom for a fully-functional #enafore ..
I'm willing to do terrible things if someone forks it and fixes it
-
I think we've finally reached the point where the default Mastodon web app is better than all the alternative web apps, at least on desktop;
* Pinafore is abandoned, various forks got more development, but Enafore.social isn't working reliably for me in LibreWolf
* Elk.zone is still alpha, and does annoying things like the popup when I copy text, and not letting me move @mentions
* Phanpy.social prevents me navigating the full thread while replying

Bin von #Pinafore als Webend zu #Enafore gewechselt. Sieht exakt identisch aus. #GoToSocial

Despite making some major progress on the codebase inherited from Pinafore (adding post editing), Enafore.social seems to have become really buggy recently. Are there any Pinafore forks still under active development?

@jlw_the_jobber @AnachronistJohn
Tuba is the Gnome app, IIRC. You're thinking of Tokodon.
I haven't tried Tokodon in a while, but I'm thinking about it again.I do like both #Elk and #Phanpy, but I keep coming back to #Enafore (Specifically, @orbitalmartian's flavor) and masto-fe.
-
Any fellow #enafore users experiencing a problem where posts just don't load? I thought it was my instance, but when I visit their site directly, all seems well. Sometimes a post loads, but I only get the content warning and can't expand it no matter what in Enafore
-
Is anyone else having trouble getting their notifications to load in #enafore?
-
PSA to #OrbitalFore and #Enafore users, a mass amount of emojis in your notifications tab will break things. The interaction buttons will not properly render, clearly as it's trying to load emojis first.
-
Ohh, my kingdom for a patch that implements this in #enafore:
-
In @enafore interface, every time I try to write a post I'm constantly distracted by new posts popping up just below where I'm typing. I have ADHD, which makes this kryptonite for me. But it must be a bit distracting for anyone.
It would be awesome if the posting box filled the screen, requiring me to manually to scroll down to see my feed. Or even better, put the compose box in its own tab, separate from the home feed.
Please, think of the easily distracted 😟
-
I really wish #Enafore's "long toot" feature would be replaced with showing a stub of the toot and a "see more" button.
It's so annoying the way it's currently implemented. :P
-
Hey #enafore users. I use Enafore as the frontend for my #gotosocial instance, and lately the notifications feed stopped refreshing automatically. It used to work but now I have to manually refresh the tab to see new notifications. Anyone having a similar issue?
-
I tried friendica for a bit, but never really "got" it.
That's the beauty of the #fediverse, we can try all kinds of different interfaces and styles and still interact on the same basic playing field.
I miss #Mastodon's interface a little bit, but #GtS has some killer features like #Markdown support.
(And yes, I'm familiar with the masto-fe. It's nice, but not 100% the same. Most of the time, I'm just rocking @orbitalmartian's #enafore instance/soft-fork or @tut)

Ooof.. I cannot recommend #enafore and its #pinafore siblings enough. After accidentally hitting the Escape key after spending half an hour drafting a post, the relief of opening the compose window and having everything still be there after is quite an adrenaline rush.
Yes, I know, if I just used a text editor or word processor with autosave I wouldn't need to worry about it.
But I'm lazy and like the enafore interface. So.. pfffth.

CW: TIL that in enafore
you can pin your bookmarks instead of the local timeline.
Press 4 to select "Community", <tab> to the pushpin next to "Bookmarks", <space> to select that.
Now your bookmarks appear in column 3, replacing the local timeline (which I no longer use).
This feature has existed since forever, probably already in pinafore, but I only really used it just now.

Ok, strange. Now on both #enafore and @orbitalmartian's Orbitalfore, when I try to re-select markdown formatting when editing a toot, it just cancels the edit.
-
P.S., can anything be done about #Enafore reverting to plain text when editing?
Kinda annoying. :P

@sotolf
Edits are working nicely in @orbitalmartian's orbitalfore (#Enafore fork) -
Has everyone except Dreamwidth and the makers of TweeseCake forgotten how to make an edit page/option that is actually easy to use? It's an absolute mess on the Friendica page itself, so that it could take me up to ten minutes just to be able to edit a post, and Enafore, which is supposed to be an improvement on Semafore has an edit page that is completely inaccessible with NVDA. It just says "Dialogue". Whatever happened to choosing "edit" and having a normal page open, with edit boxes, combo boxes, and a "save" button? See Dreamwidth's page for a perfect example of this, both for creating and editing posts.
TweeseCake also works wonderfully, but it only allows you to go back so far in your own posts. There is no way to enter a link and have TweeseCake open it.

A couple of updates on my fediverse app testing.
Big thanks to the person who clued me into #Enafore being the actively maintained Pinafore fork. It's now my main web app, and I recently noticed that post editing has been added 🥳
I occasionally use #Tuba on my laptop, running Fedora GNU/Linux with Mate, installed from repos. It has potential, but it's a bit limited. Turning off notifications doesn't seem to work on Fedora any better than it did on Trisquel.

@mastoblind What are my fellow #blind users browsing fedi with? I'm currently using #enafore but it's lacking some important features and doesn't handle all notifications gracefully. Any other screen reader friendly clients? Perhaps different fork of Pinafore?
-
This is posted from enafore.social. Wonder what the specialty of this one is. #enafore
-
Yay, my commits to #iceshrimp.net to improve some #accessibility were merged! Now it's just the dropdown menus to fix. Not that I use the frontend myself; I'd rather third party apps like #enafore. Still, though, I enjoyed setting up a dev environment and learning a bit about #blazor, and think I'll use it for another project I'm half way through starting.
-
when I read post in #enafore, #screenreader says public post by <name> but the post is not read. how to enable post reading?
-
CW: Long tech post/rant on an Enafore issue with Braille displays, specifically.
Stupid #Enafore issue that may or may not be the fault of Enafore itself.
Each post is given an ARIA label synthesized from things like the author, post text, post time, "has media" indications... but the actual post is inside an article containing several spans and other things.
The result is that my Braille display's focus ends up *at the end* of the post, and I have to pan backward at least 5 times to read a post in Braille.
Setting focus to the <article> element in dev tools has no effect.
Any #WebDev #a11y folks have thoughts on how to make this experience more intuitive in Braille? #nvdasr
