The "Cloud" is just someone else's computer—and as we see, even tech giants aren't invincible.
When big tech fails or laws compromise your privacy, having a transparent way to access and manage your own backups becomes a necessity, not a luxury.
This is why #Keepita focuses on giving users a clear window into their mobile data. Don't let your backups be a mystery hidden in someone else's vulnerable cloud.

The signal this week feels sharper than usual. More warnings about surveillance. More reminders that centralised platforms can turn on you. More reasons to run tools you control. 21. Every phish and scam attempt I see follows the same pattern:
    - We are [insert someone who has authority over you] (gov, lawyer, bank, crypto exchange, your boss, big tech)
    - We are going to use our power over you to do something you don't want (send your money to someone, confiscate your stuff, lock you up, delete your data)
    - Unless you send us sensitive personal info and/or money (various ID documents, crypto seeds, passwords/2FA codes)

The sad part is that this only works because people with power over you do the exact same thing to you all the time, you become numb and just do exactly what they say all the time.

There is an alternative: Opt. Out.

Boss threatening to fire you? That'd be impressive given I work for myself.
Crypto exchange requires you to unlock your account with your seed? Nah, my funds are on a cold storage wallet.
Bank froze your checking account until you give them some new ID document they made up? Fine, I have cash in my wallet, some Monero and some unregistered prepaid cards. I can still pay for what I need.
Cloud provider about to delete your photos? No, I have them on a hard drive in my home and another in an offsite backup.
Lawyer threatening legal action? My home is in a land trust, my phone has no SIM card, and my assets are self-custodied, you won't even find what city I live in.
Credit card fraudulently opened in your name? Impressive, I have no credit score and live debt free.

Treat anything you can't self-custody as disposable; they'll eventually get hacked, frozen, etc. Don't keep anything of value there, get in and out as quick as you can. Sometimes they are a necessary evil, give as little personal info as you can or lie/fake info as much as possible/moral, and always be ready to burn them.

  27. Why are central banks so jumpy about Bitcoin?

Because it’s money outside the printer, outside the freeze button, and outside the narrative machine. This one frames it as a Davos moment: laughs on the surface, fear underneath.

  38. Coin Bureau just dropped a video called “Crypto And AI Will CONVERGE In 2026!!” and it leans into the USDC, Circle, and AI crypto narrative.

Bigger theme I keep seeing: AI needs money rails and proof, crypto needs better UX and real demand. If they collide, self-custody and open standards matter even more.

Simply Bitcoin breaks down the Washington fight over the crypto market structure Bill and the push to ban stablecoin rewards. Whatever side you're on, it screams one thing: if your money lives in someone else's system, they can rewrite the rules overnight.

  43. New post: Is 2026 the year digital freedom snaps, or the year you take it back?

Age checks become ID rails. Encryption gets squeezed. Compliance shapes speech. Self-custody gets more friction.

  46. Iran going offline is a reminder: crypto is a network.

If the internet is cut, you can still hold your keys and even sign transactions offline. But you cannot reliably broadcast to the global chain without some path out, so payments get clunky fast.

Resilience means self-custody, safe backups, and offline signing. Then broadcast when you can.

  47. Bitcoin’s “endgame” chat with Knut Svanholm is really about incentives and custody: “everything divided by 21 million” as a simple way to think about fixed supply, and why self-custody is the backbone of sovereignty.

ETFs can widen access, but they also concentrate risk and create honeypots. Convenience has a price.

  48. What’s the one thing that can destroy Bitcoin? You.

Not hackers. Not “bans”. Not some corporate boardroom deal. 2017 showed the real battleground: the blocksize war, the New York Agreement, SegWit2x, and a whole lot of pressure to “just accept” a fork. The protocol’s rules only survive when enough of us enforce them, by running nodes, choosing self custody, and refusing to treat Bitcoin like another bank account.

Mission 12 from The Game of Satoshi is a good reminder: Bitcoin is code plus people. If we outsource verification and accept custodial IOUs as “good enough”, we can kill the point without touching a line of code.
