I've created two more #packages for @gentoo:
https://t.co/6XtHYRqhK9
https://t.co/svp3VylssSOne is @LinuxBootOrg's #Fiano, a #UEFI #firmware toolset, the other a proxy for #SQL servers in @googlecloud. 🎉✨
That was rough and tough. 👩🏻💻 Time to relax! 🧘♀ https://twitter.com/OrangeCMS/status/1116498230026620930

I did see that LTT vid come up some days ago but I didn't watch them. They're probably entertaining for normal people but I don't really care about their vids anymore. For sure that'll bring people who'll stick to Linux permanently and it's good I guess.
I'll just keep on using whatever distro I want. I really wanna get a 5950X so I can do LFS and gentoo lol. Fuck getting new mobo, cpu and ddr5 ram these days

Just in case others have problems connecting their JBL Charge 6 or Flip 7 bluetooth speaker to their computer, failing with "SET_CONFIGURATION request rejected: Unknown error (216)" – Today I learned that this is fixed with >=media-video/pipewire-1.4.7:
https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/t/jbl-flip-7-a2dp-connection-failure-on-fedora-42-bluez-pipewire/155958/8
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pipewire/pipewire/-/merge_requests/2451I added it to my /etc/portage/package.accept.keywords and now the speaker works like a charm. Nice! 🙂

Yesterday was one of the very few times I managed to lock myself out of my #Gentoo system.
This time I didn't understand the severity of a warning after a systemd update.
With an older #SailfishOS SDK I had to set systemd.unified_cgroup_hierarchy=false on the kernel command-line to get the build docker image working. The updated systemd no longer supports this, and refused to launch...
Good that I have a #SystemRescue CD for such situations... IT took less than 15 minutes to fix it.

The #gentoo #sparc builders are disabled for now because the worker had become a little too unstable.
https://builder.sourceware.org
We hope to get it back soon because it is doing a lot of builds for #Sourceware projects.
#elfutils, #libabigail, #bzip2, #debugedit, #gccrust, #binutils, #gdb, #gcc, #systemtap, #glibc, #gnupoke.

12 Months of Gentoo. Was a success, I hit a couple of random speed bumps along the way but nothing too dramatic.
Gentoo will probably be home for the forseeable future :)

Can I call myself a Gentoo user now?

#gentoo #sagemath #automake #treedec #tdlib
I wanted to try a bugfix from https://github.com/sagemath/sage/issues/39404#issuecomment-2972556816 so I applied a main branch patch totreedec-0.9.3.tar.gz
And then I was told I need anautomake-1.16so I got it from https://github.com/gentoo/gentoo/commit/75bbf603d0702d9ac4873e95fd277d48cd9f68f2
The sad thing is after installing fixedtreedecand freshvbraun/sageI am still getting4fromg.treewidth(algorithm="tdlib") -

I take that back. Lots of big updates with #Gentoo today, including kernel sources, #ChromiumBrowser, and #LibreOffice so it will likely be tomorrow before I can install the new hardware.
(My main computer is powerful, but not "compile chromium in an hour" powerful.)

@miekg Oh... I feel you are an expert there :)
My path have started from gentoo with emerge with later various distro hops, like OpenSuse Ubuntu Mint Debian, etc.
But deep dive Gentoo I liked the most, since it had the least issues with packages. The reason I've never came back there, is a compilation time.
I remember how I built KDE for more than 20 hours (Celeron 2.4 in early 2000s).After many years in MacOS (right now it's also a primary OS, Arch is only on a big PC), it's really confusing that many things are not available without hacks.
In MacOS Homebrew made it so simple, it's hard to accept that Linux may have so many complications with a package distributions. It looks like snap or flatpack should fix this issue, but they don't. Many things from snap don't work or do not available, flatpack the same.
Installing Homebrew in Linux does not feel right.

Zastępujemy libblas.so, liblapack.so i inne biblitoteki dowiązaniami symbolicznymi, więc programy skompilowane przed zmianą po prostu zaczną używać FlexiBLAS.
No i szukam w źródłach, i nic nie mogę znaleźć. Łatki dla BLIS są jeszcze gorsze — tu libblas.so i libcblas.so to praktycznie kopie libblis.so, z poszczególnymi "niepotrzebnymi" symbolami ukrytymi przy pomocy "visibility".

#Gentoo has not been accepted to participate in #Google #SummerOfCode this year. Apparently, they prefer to give away their money on awful "#AI" (#LLM) projects that waste megawatts of energy to propel #enshittification of Internet, rather than the old good Gentoo that they keep exploiting and that wastes energy primarily on doing hobby stuff, that make Internet a better place.

Wow. All the big packages updating on my #Gentoo #Linux box. Been about 20 hours, 165 of 201 completed.
That's what I get for not updating for about 10 days.
Oh, and encfs is depreciated and going bye-bye. Luckily I have next weekend off and will have some time to switch all my local backups to #GoCryptFS.
I need to submit my workbook to the print shop for next #AdultESOL term.
#CyberSecurity class starts tomorrow.
International dinner at school in two weeks.
I'll sleep when I'm dead.

Building a #gentoo qcow2 image for #OracleCloud using qemu-system-aarch64 setup like the A1 instance because I'm a masochist.
Sure, I've got a ton of x86_64 cores I could throw at it, or I could setup distcc, or lots of stuff other things. But nah.

Doing stuff with #Gentoo brings me back to simpler times. Hanging out in #IRC on #IRCNet, chatting to other nerds on our #gentoo.is channel. using the command /playing to display which song we were playing in #XMMS2, ricing out our WM/DE, t.A.T.u. were the new big thing around the world with their hit "All the things she said"..
Simpler times!
