  15. A political philosopher and expert on civic ethics looks at the big picture of the #Midterms, and says it's an exaggeration to call it an endorsement of Biden's agenda or rejection of Trump's agenda.
"U.S. democracy today is driven by partisan identity rather than policy. Elections thus are won not by changing the minds of undecided voters, but by mobilizing the party’s base."

  20. After reading Academic philosopher Rupert Read's film review on Avatar: The Way of Water, I look forward to seeing the movie.:

"there is much that is weak in the film, but let that not obscure something inside it that’s so strong. The real point is to make our stand; to try to attain the wisdom of whales, and the intelligence of indigeneity and of our own wisdom traditions. The Way of Water includes repeated teaching on breathing techniques and meditation, teachings that, as I watched, I found myself breathing along with. Is there any other mass-audience movie that has attempted anything like this?

"As our own planet continues to die, listen deeply for the word that is about to be spoken. Maybe you can help speak it."

  21. ‘[To Medieval philosophers and economic theorists t]he unpardonable sin is that of the speculator or the middleman, who snatches private gain by the exploitation of public necessities. The true descendant of the doctrines of Aquinas is the labor theory of value. The last of the Schoolmen was Karl Marx.’
