I’ve just finished my first three days on the South West Coast Path! #PhilosWalks
Highlights so far is I managed to carry a very full&heavy pack 9miles (but do handle lighter and shorter, so will keep up the camping in one spot and doing circuits); a couple of insightful chats with experienced #swcp walkers; an excellent cider and sausage roll; and all the views.
I’ll add links to my insta posts below for pics and maps 😊 -
I’m on a bus that about to go on a ferry, then I’ll be at the start (that’s usually the end) of the South West Coast Path 😬🥳 #PhilosWalks

After much careful map-checking, Googling, and quite a few frustrating dead-ends, a route plan for the first week or so has, thankfully, been devised 🤪💪.
Now just hope my clothes fully dry by the morning 🤞

Prep day for #PhilosWalks so far involves
•drying my hand washed laundry in the bathroom
•a trip to the shops for all the oats (porridge & oat cakes), and other things to sustain me
•an equipment check
•finding route info including pedestrian ferry times -
Made it without any drenching (just one wee shower), all 11miles/17.6km!
Also a bus, a boat, and a train to make my final destination, the home of very generous friend of a friend
#PhilosWalks is now very tired -
Doing some walking today! Hayling Island and across to Portsmouth Harbour, hoping to not get too drenched #PhilosWalks

Technically it’s day 4 of the long distance stage of my project ‘a philosopHER walks’ and so far I’ve done many more hours walk admin than walking
…types #PhilosWalks on her devices that are downloading required info using the free WiFi in a pub while waiting for her accommodation to become available 🤪😂 -
On the bus to Chichester as the forecast is heavy rain today. #PhilosWalks

And #PhilosWalks is leaving Brighton and Hove city. Today’s leg is Shoreham-on-sea to Worthing. (Taking the bus to Shoreham as walked the section to Hove in Stage One of ‘a philosopHER walks’)
-
So today for ‘a philosopHER walks’ has been admin/planning/pack reorganisation. Tomorrow is a walking day #PhilosWalks
-
Made it! Just to Hove, actually. But a good start 💪 #PhilosWalks
-
Managed 45mins non-stop, so full pack seems more manageable than expected #PhilosWalks
-
‘a philosopHER walks’ is on my way! #PhilosWalks begins the long distance stage.
Only a short walk to test out the finally packed, pack. (Suspect it’ll require some lightening 😬)
Wish me luck 🤞 -
