Finally going to call my DIY #Zynthian "Done". Just did a little jam with it. Pretty sweet to have drums, synth, and an entire guitar effects chain including amp modeler and cabinet IR all in a single module, and able to record with it. Still a lot to learn and a long way to go, but now it makes noise. And I can run the whole thing on a battery, which is pretty sweet.
-
well this a project that absorbed way more time than I planned. mcp23017 and encoders to control raspberry pi running #Zynthian. turns out the only solid core wire I had on hand was just red or 0.1mm magnet wire. but it's 99% done. just need the ground bus, but thats tomorrow's problem.

Was at the San Diego Botanical Gardens holiday light walk last night and they had this awesome volumetric light curtain, amd I really wanted to run volumetric doom on it. Aliexpress was just trying to sell me these curtains, so I might have a patio project to work on for xmas.

It's way too easy to bring too much to supercon. At least my airbnb has a crafting room.

So someone made a "Tik-tok, the clockwork army of OZ" SAO. I am so happy to have this!

I've been looking for a convenient way to carry reading glasses. apparently this thing called the "Readerest" was on sharktank and got popular. Took one look at it and went, "I can make that". Had some spare magnets on hand, like any good maker. Took about 10m to model in #Ondsel and hit print. I wasn't happy with the gap I provided for the glasses, but I made a cup of tea and used the extra hot water to mold the piece a bit better. Used some quick-set super glue and here we are.

Tickets to @hackaday #supercon purchased! This'll be my 3rd year in a row. Super excited!

took a little more effort than I thought but I finally got my diy 3d printed keyboard setup for vial and yea, it absolutely does exactly what I wanted.
Added a screenshot of the VIAL configurator, and here's the link to my buildlog with all the files/images/etc. is here. https://hackaday.io/project/179006-3d-printed-ortholinear-30-ish-keyboard

It was super awkwardly shaped. As it's not just a rounded rectangle, but all the sides are slightly bowed, so I had to model it as a series of arcs all around.

Kind of interesting playing around with the #Ondsel Lens plugin, the paid portion of Ondsel(although there's a free tier that I'm using). It's basically like git/bitbucket for 3d modeling version control and collaboration, plus a 3d file repository similar to thingiverse. Here's my lens link for this pool chalk holder.

With finally having a consistently working #3DPrinter I finally made something I've been meaning to. A magnetic chalk holder for playing pool. Designed in #Ondsel
I'm still tweaking it but I'll put it up on printables when I feel like it's done. -
Just reserved my airbnb for #hackadaysupercon and I'm super excited. We're 6 months out. I guess I should start figuring out a thing to make/bring. Has anyone started planning meetups/events happening around the con?
Wonder what this year's badge is going to be. -
It's the little things. Fixed a broken part from my wife's favorite mug. I have justified the printer to the spouse once again.

It's always gotta be something with 3D Printing. One of the magnetic run out sensors in my Bambu Lab AMS flipped itself and jammed up my filament path. I've had this thing for a week.
I'm frustrated that something I spent this much money on is doing stupid things. But on the other hand I'm happy that there's well made first party documentation for disassembly and repair, so that salves that aggression some.

Somedays I love #linux , @archlinux , and Appimages. Somedays not so much. Some recent update broke @FreeCAD and #Ondsel appimages in two different ways on my computer. qt-Wayland support broke and something to do with mesa drivers. Took forever to find a workaround.
Had to preload a specific library, and change the QT to use xcb instead of wayland.
$ LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libdrm_amdgpu.so.1.0.0 QT_QPA_PLATFORM=xcb ./FreeCAD-0.21.2-Linux-x86_64.appimage -
well shit. Not sure why but after updating @EndeavourOS something about wayland has broken QT for appimages. Trying to launch either @FreeCAD or #ondsel both produce "Could not find the Qt platform plugin "wayland" in "" " errors and crash.

My new absolute favorite Mastodon browser extension is Streetpass. As you browse the web, any site that has a mastodon verification link embedded in it it adds it to its list so you can find people on mastodon from the places you go. So far it's been pretty fantastic AND unlike all those stupid bridge sites it's privacy conscious in that it's only local, just what you're browsing, and isn't scraping the fediverse.
It's made by @tvler

#TCHIA game.
Talk about a sure fire way to get me to buy your game. Get some tilted conservative helicopter moms losing their shit in the comments over two girls kissing in the story.
Also the game looks amazing, the story and mechanics look awesome, and I was already going to buy it. Finding out it makes bigots cry is just a bonus. -
It's a neat design, but also feels like cheating since it's literally just the #daisyseed board wired to two jacks. So far messing around it is an amazing board for audio projects. Guitar pedals, modular synth modules, whole synthesizers if you want. It's mainly running an stm32 and a stereo codec IC and the DaisySP dsp library. It's VIN is up to 17V tolerant, so it'd probably work great in a #eurorack setup. https://www.electro-smith.com/daisy/daisy

Currently in MicroCenter on my way up to #hackadaysuperconference ooogling the things and trying not to spend to much money.
Sadly all out of Pi5s, and no Pi Zero 2 W, but nabbed a couple of Pico Ws and might be grabbing a new TV on the way back from supercon. -
Finally finished this project of converting a cheap etsy facemask into the best band patch.

If anyone is playing with the new #picoice fpga devboard. There might be a bug in the firmware for transferring uf2 bitstream to the ice40. I was unable to use apio upload or dragging a uf2 into the pico-ice drive. only use `dfu-utils -d 1209:b1c0 -a 1 -D firmware.bin` worked for me. Or using the ice-makefile-blinky example, which automates the same command.

The level of commitment this guy puts into his video for Otamatone covers is just astounding.
A shot for shot recreation of the entire original Take On Me video, effects and all, but with Otamatones as hand puppets.
Just WOW.
