  1. Just some clarity on what the #Eagles can or can't say when it comes to their players' medical issues and whether Howie Roseman should have been made available to answer questions rather than Nick Sirianni:

For years during the Andy Reid era, many times when there was an injury or medical situation that extended beyond the norm, the team would provide head trainer Rick Burkholder to answer questions from reporters.

For instance, when Mike Patterson collapsed and suffered a seizure during training camp in 2011, Burkholder was front and center after Patterson was diagnosed with cerebral arteriovenous malformation.

When Reid left, the Eagles essentially decided they would keep most injury information private outside of NFL-sanctioned practice and status reports.

Most of the questions about Jalen Hurts and his blood clot(s) that were directed at Nick Sirianni on Monday, however, were about procedure (should he have played? traveled? flown?). Sirianni deferred to the team's medical staff.

Obviously, no one from the medical staff was made available. They don't report to Sirianni, but to Eagles GM Howie Roseman. Roseman doesn't typically speak with reporters on the record during the season, except after major trades (i.e. Cam Jurgens two weeks ago). But there is nothing preventing the team from having a news conference with Roseman over the handling of Hurts during the last few weeks.

Presumably, if Roseman -- who is responsible for all roster decisions and oversees all medical, training, strength and sports science departments -- and the team believe they handled Hurts appropriately, then they shouldn't be wary of answering specific questions about the topic for public consumption.

  15. "October is here, and it’s almost time for Mastodon’s 5.0 release! We announced our plans for big changes in an early preview back in August. In this companion article, we’re hoping to shed light on some of the decisions behind this major UI overhaul.

Between the feedback we’ve gathered during Discovery Week, an event in which we spent a week doing surveys and workshop sessions with volunteers from the community, and Mastodon’s 10th anniversary coming up, we were determined to deliver something notable.
    (...)
The redesign was grounded in these principles:

Clarity trumps convenience. The most powerful interface can be useless if it’s too difficult to figure out. Making things more clear and obvious can result in more friction, and that can be necessary.

Leave room for what’s to come. Navigation may feel emptier for now, and that is on purpose. We have lots of improvements planned that we need to leave space for, to avoid moving more elements around in the future.

Small improvements matter. We might not be able to fix everything overnight, but we’ll continue to look for small but meaningful improvements to accessibility and usability."

  19. To Mars Moons?

We need to learn more about our own Moon before we explore space rocks that orbit Mars.
‘They are so small that the Martians can’t see them from the surface of Mars without binoculars.’

    https://youtu.be/Z1xsVqyYwzM

JAXA has experience with asteroid sample returns, which is more like what the Moons of Mars are. At least, referring to the size and gravity of Mars’ moons. What is the chance of success? I prompted Bonsai after the review.

    Bonsai 27B Prompt:
@get-youtube-transcript: Write a review of the video as an AI Scientist for a futurist: Video Link
@Web Fact-Checking via Google Search: Share insights about how and why we explore Mars Moons.

    Bonsai Said:
🌙 Review: “Japan heading for Mars! And JAXA MMX will do what no mission has done before!”

First Impressions from the Lens of an AI Scientist

Watching this video through my analytical lens reveals a bold, technically ambitious undertaking—and one that deserves both cautious optimism and clear-eyed scrutiny. The JAXA-led MMX (Martian Moons Exploration) mission represents humanity’s first sample-return operation from beyond Earth orbit, and the stakes couldn’t be higher.

    What the Video Nails

✅ Clarity of mission scope — The presentation clearly articulates what makes MMX revolutionary: landing on Phobos, collecting regolith samples, and returning them to Earth for analysis. This isn’t just orbital survey; it’s hands-on geology at a distance.

✅ Contextual framing — The video appropriately situates this mission within decades of failed attempts (Soviet/Japanese missions in the 1980s-2000s) and positions MMX as the first serious attempt to answer how these moons formed.

✅ Technical specificity — The mention of instruments like MEGANE (Mars-moon Exploration with Gamma rays and Neutrons), the pneumatic sampler technology, and the JAXA C-Sampler for deeper cores shows this is no hype-driven showcase but a mission grounded in engineering.

    Where I Raise My Eyebrows

⚠️ Timeline compression — The video implies MMX will “do what no mission has done before,” which is true, but it’s worth noting the immense risk profile: launch delay from Oct 2026 means sample return to Earth won’t occur until ~2031. That’s a five-year journey with zero margin for error.

⚠️ Sample handling — Only about 15% of the ~10g+ collected samples will be returned to NASA at JSC’s Astromaterials Lab, while the rest goes to JAXA. This is a diplomatic and scientific reality, but it raises questions about open-access versus restricted study of this unique sample.

⚠️ No mention of backup plans — With Phobos’ extreme orbital velocity (faster than Mars rotates!) and thin atmosphere (~0% Earth pressure), the landing mechanism seems extraordinarily risky. What happens if the P-Sampler malfunctions? No contingency is discussed.

    Verdict for Futurists

If you’re a futurist, this video is essential viewing because it documents the first successful sample-return from another planetary system. While not as high-profile as Apollo or Hayabusa2, MMX addresses questions that are foundational to our understanding of solar system formation and may inform future deep-space infrastructure.

    Rating: ★★★★☆ (4/5)
Highly recommended for anyone interested in the frontier of space exploration, but pair this with critical thinking about the engineering risks involved.

🪐 How & Why We Explore Mars’ Moons: Verified Insights

Based on cross-referenced NASA, JAXA, ESA sources and recent mission documentation, here are the key facts about why and how we explore Phobos and Deimos:

The “Why”: Three Primary Scientific Drivers

    1. Origin Mystery

    • Two competing hypotheses for moon formation:
      • Impact hypothesis: A massive asteroid collided with Mars, ejecting debris that formed a disk from which the moons accreted (supported by simulations showing orbital alignment)
      • Capture hypothesis: The moons are ancient asteroids captured by Mars’ gravity billions of years ago

    2. Solar System History

    • Phobos and Deimos may be remnants of early violent events that shaped the inner solar system, potentially explaining how Earth acquired water and organic compounds during the late heavy bombardment period

    3. Future Exploration Infrastructure

    • These moons could serve as data relay points, refueling stations, or even potential landing sites for future human missions—making them strategic assets for Mars colonization timelines

The “How”: Current & Planned Approaches

MissionAgencyStatusKey CapabilitySoviet/Japanese probes (1980s)USSR/JAXAFailedFirst attempts; all failedMMXJAXA (with NASA support)In DevelopmentSample return from PhobosMars Sample ReturnNASA/ESAPlannedEarth-based sample return

MMX Mission Details (JAXA-led, 2026 launch):

    • Objective: Collect >10g of Phobos regolith and return to Earth by ~2031
    • Instruments: MEGANE spectrograph (gamma/neutron radiation analysis), P-Sampler (pneumatic surface collection)
    • NASA contributions: MEGANE instrument, P-Sampler tech demo, communication/navigation support, sample curation

    Why Phobos Specifically?

    • Larger moon (~16 mile diameter vs. Deimos’ ~10 mile)
    • Has never been explored before
    • Higher sampling yield expected
    • Closer to Mars allows for more efficient orbital mechanics

    Critical Context & Caveats

Risk Assessment: The MMX mission carries significant technical risk:

    • Phobos orbits at 7 km/s, faster than Mars rotates → landing requires precise timing and velocity control
    • No atmosphere means no aerobraking; must rely on precision navigation
    • Sample return trajectory is extremely complex (Mars-Earth transfer windows occur every ~26 months)

    Current Knowledge Gaps:

    • Exact composition of the moons remains poorly understood beyond surface albedo data
    • Internal structure unknown—do they have subsurface water? metallic cores?
    • Orbital stability questions: Phobos will eventually collide with Mars in ~45 million years, but Deimos’ future is uncertain

    Timeline Reality Check:

    • MMX launch: October 2026 (already happening!)
    • Mars arrival: August 2027
    • Sample collection: December 2028 (earliest)
    • Earth return: ~2031
    • Analysis: 2031+

Bottom Line for the Futurist Mindset

The exploration of Mars’ moons is not just about collecting rocks—it’s about answering fundamental questions about how solar systems form, validating planetary science models through actual data rather than simulations alone, and developing sample-return infrastructure that will be essential for sustained human presence on Mars.

The MMX mission represents humanity’s first successful return of material from another world beyond Earth orbit—making it a milestone comparable in its historical significance to Apollo (though far more difficult in terms of orbital mechanics). If successful, the returned samples could rewrite textbooks and reshape our understanding of solar system formation for generations.

    * Chance of success?

You’ve pinpointed the exact reason JAXA is leading this mission: they didn’t just learn from Hayabusa1’s empty capsule or Hayabusa2’s flawless return—they built a complete, repeatable sample-return ecosystem over two decades. But Phobos isn’t an asteroid. It’s a moon with its own orbital physics, and that changes the risk profile significantly. Let’s break down what that means for MMX’s odds of success, and why it matters for anyone tracking deep-space logistics.

🔹 JAXA’s Track Record: Real, But Not Identical

JAXA successfully returned samples from two airless asteroids (Ryugu in 2019, Bennu in 2023). That proves they can:

    • Navigate to a distant body with minimal Earth relay support
    • Land on a slow-rotating, airless surface
    • Deploy automated samplers and ascent vehicles
    • Execute complex interplanetary rendezvous and Earth return

That foundation is solid. But Phobos introduces constraints that asteroid missions never faced.

🔹 Phobos vs. Asteroids: The Divergences That Matter

ParameterTypical Small Asteroid (e.g., Bennu)Phobos (Martian Moon)Why It Changes the GameSize~4 km diameter~7.8 km (elongated)Slightly larger, but regolith mechanics differ due to tidal flexing and faster rotationSurface Gravity~0.0001–0.00025 g~0.3 m/s² (~0.00003 g)Still negligible, but Phobos’ gravity + tidal forces make regolith more “fluid-like” and harder to confine for samplingOrbital VelocityN/A (non-orbiting target)~17.5 km/s relative to Mars surfaceCompletes orbit every 2h37m. You only have a ~13-minute window per orbit to land, sample, and deploy before the surface races past youAscent VehicleLight mass, direct Earth transferMust escape Phobos → enter Mars orbit → perform Earth-bound Hohmann-like transferHigher delta-v budget; no aerocapture; requires precise staging and radiation-hardened systemsEnvironmentVacuum, moderate temp swingsExtreme thermal cycling (-140°C to +140°C), high solar radiation (no magnetosphere shielding)Materials must survive repeated freeze-thaw cycles while sampling mechanisms operate flawlessly

🔹 Chance of Success: A Grounded Estimate

Historically, complex sample-return missions sit in the 50–65% success range when you factor in navigation, sampling hardware, ascent deployment, and return trajectory. MMX’s architecture is more mature than Hayabusa1 but less battle-tested than Hayabusa2 in this specific regime.

I’d estimate a ~60–75% probability of successful sample return, contingent on:

    • No major guidance/navigation anomalies during launch or ascent
    • P-Sampler (NASA pneumatic tech) and C-Sampler (JAXA core extraction) interface reliably under Phobos’ surface conditions
    • Earth-return trajectory remains within safe margins (the mission includes multiple correction windows, which is a deliberate risk-mitigation design choice)

That said, success isn’t binary. Even if the ascent vehicle returns empty, the mission still validates:

    • High-speed orbital navigation near a fast-rotating moon
    • Sample handling under extreme thermal/radiation cycles
    • Earth-return logistics from Mars’ vicinity All of which are direct stress-tests for future crewed infrastructure.

🔹 The Futurist Lens: Why This Matters Beyond the Rocks

For anyone tracking deep-space development, MMX isn’t just about returning regolith. It’s a logistics proof-of-concept:

    • Autonomous navigation in high-speed lunar-like orbits → essential for relay networks and future crewed approaches
    • Sample handling under vacuum + thermal extremes → mirrors conditions near Mars’ surface for rovers, landers, and eventually habitats
    • Earth-return from a secondary body → tests the same trajectory architecture that will carry humans, cargo, and resources back to Earth

If MMX delivers samples, we’ve just stress-tested the supply chain that will make Mars operational. If it doesn’t, we’ll still have validated navigation, sampling mechanics, and mission architecture data that future teams can iterate on. Either way, the risk is calculated, not reckless.

Bottom line: JAXA’s asteroid experience is highly relevant, but Phobos adds orbital-time pressure and ascent complexity that makes this harder than it looks. The odds aren’t poor, especially given NASA/JAXA collaboration and built-in correction windows. For a futurist tracking deep-space logistics, MMX isn’t just about moons—it’s the first real-world test of the infrastructure we’ll need to stay on Mars.

  20. I launched Buzz Capitol in 2026 — an independent digital news and media platform where I'm the Founder, CEO and Editor-in-Chief. No investors, no newsroom, no legacy brand behind it. Just me, a laptop, and everything I'd learned from years of building audiences online.

I'm Sami Ullah, 23, from Abbottabad, Pakistan. Before Buzz Capitol, I ran more than 15 YouTube channels and built a combined following of over 10 million across Instagram, TikTok and other platforms. That experience was my real education — not in journalism school, but in the mechanics of how information travels on the internet. This is what building a news platform from scratch actually looks like.

Start with the problem, not the platform

Most media startups begin with a tech stack. I started with a question that wouldn't leave me alone: why do so many stories about places like mine get told wrong — or never get told at all?

Abbottabad is beautiful and calm, far from the cities where Pakistan's media decisions get made. The internet doesn't care where you live, but legacy newsrooms often do. There was a gap: independent, digital-first news that treats young readers like intelligent people instead of engagement metrics. I decided to fill it.

The lesson for anyone building anything online: the platform is the easy part. Knowing exactly whose problem you're solving is the hard part, and it determines every decision that follows.

    Distribution first, prestige later

Here's the uncomfortable truth about digital media in 2026: a great story that nobody reads might as well not exist. My 15+ YouTube channels and 10M+ followers taught me distribution before I ever published a news article.

Each channel was an experiment — what makes people click, what makes them stay, what makes them trust. Attention is cheap; trust is expensive. Anyone can go viral once. Almost nobody can build something an audience believes in, week after week. That distinction became the editorial philosophy of Buzz Capitol.

When I launched, I didn't start from zero. I started from an audience that already knew my voice. If you're building a content platform, build the audience before you need them. The platform is just where you invite them.

    Zero capital, full ownership

Everything I built — the channels, the audience, the academy — was built with zero capital. No investors, no loans, no office. That's not just a budget constraint; it's a strategy. When nobody funds you, nobody tells you what to publish.

That independence is the whole point of Buzz Capitol. As Editor-in-Chief, I make the editorial calls: what to cover, how to cover it, what not to publish. There's no advertiser relationship or investor preference quietly shaping the coverage. For a news platform, independence isn't a marketing word — it's the product.

The trade-off is real, though. Zero capital means zero margin for waste. Every article has to earn its place. Every feature of the site has to justify its existence. Constraints like these force clarity that a big budget never would.

The tech is the boring part (and that's fine)

People ask about my stack more than my editorial standards. Here's the truth: the technology behind a modern news platform is a solved problem. CMS, hosting, distribution, newsletters — all of it can be assembled from tools that already exist. What isn't solved is the human part: editorial judgment, consistency, and the willingness to publish something unpopular because it's true.

I spent my time on the things that compound: a clear voice, a consistent publishing rhythm, and standards I could defend publicly. The site itself is infrastructure. The trust is the asset.

    Writing as infrastructure

Along the way, I wrote six books — including "Echoes of Truth: The Age of Information Chaos" and "Behind the Headlines." They weren't a side project; they were me documenting what I was learning in real time. Writing forces clarity. A chapter about information chaos is me organizing the editorial lessons from running a news platform. A chapter about zero-capital growth is me organizing the lessons from every channel I built from nothing.

If you run any kind of platform, write about it. Not for marketing — for thinking. The discipline of explaining what you do will improve what you do.

    What I'd tell a 20-year-old starting today

I also chair Digi Skill Pro Academy, where our online-earning classes are 100% free. In 2025, more than 10,000 students came through, and over 5,000 reported real earnings. That project taught me something that applies directly to Buzz Capitol: when you give value freely, trust compounds faster than any marketing budget.

So here's my advice: don't wait for permission, credentials, or capital. Pick the gap you actually care about, build the audience before you need them, publish with standards you can defend, and write down what you learn as you go. I built a news platform at 23 from a quiet city in the hills of Pakistan. The internet is the most level playing field that has ever existed for ideas. Use it.#media #startup #webdev #writing #software #coding #development #engineering #inclusive #community

  21. USA – Wake Up & Know Islam is EVIL

Wherever an Islamic Sharia Lifestyle is Advocated it MUST be Illegalized…EVEN IF IT TAKES A CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT to Clarify American Culture over Islamic Culture!

    John R. Houk, Blog Editor

    © October 21, 2026

I realize in the USA’s current political divide a Constitutional Amendment is probably a pipedream. NEVERTHELESS, the more Americans that wake up to the RED-GREEN Alliance threat is the more I suspect an American civil war is in the USA’s future to settle what a Constitutional Amendment cannot achieve.

Islamic rioting has been in European news lately. Especially in France. AND I’ve noticed Mainstream news outlets reporting on the Muslim rioting are pulling the same stunt the American Pess perpetrated in the USA in the so-called 2020 Summer of Love riots which were reported as MOSTLY PEACEFUL. That was a LIE in 2020 and it is a LIE in France in 2026. The only difference between 2020 and 2026 is the Summer of Love was Communist agitation while 2026 is mostly Islamic agitation (with a huge dose of RED-GREEN Alliance mixed in).

The Muslim craziness exploding in Europe is being stoked in the USA in unassimilating Muslim enclaves, where even in America it is dangerous for a Christian to exercise their FIRST AMENDMENT Free Speech Rights openly.

If you are a Christian or a Jew, you would be embracing lunacy to believe Islam is a Religion of Peace. Islam’s very revered writing call for violence and death for all those who refuse to submit to Islam. AND the Islamic revered writings specifically target the People of the Book (i.e., Jews and Christians) for refusing their demonized prophet Muhammad and his demonized theo-political religion known as Islam. Wherever the early revered writings spoke of peace and tolerance of Jews and Christians; the later revered writings of intolerance, hate and calls for violence ABROGATED the earlier writings. Hence Islam is an evil authoritarian theopolitical ideology demanding submission…OR ELSE.

Friends that is called Islamic Supremacism. Marxism cooperates with the Islamic agenda under the idiocy it subverts Western Values. It is idiotic because if Islam ever gains an ascendancy in a Western nation, the Islamic venom will be turned on the Communists. If or when a Red-Green Alliance ends Western-Christian values or culture, the BLOOD will flow as the Alliance crumbles.

With these thoughts in mind, I’m going to share a couple of Substack posts and a couple of bonus videos. All with the theme of being critical of evil Islam.

    America Is At A Crossroad

We are 14 days from the midterms. This voting cycle is life changing

    Substack Act for America

Republicans hold the presidency, the House, and the Senate. Even with that majority, the agenda voters demanded has been blocked at every turn by activist judges and rogue rulings that treat the will of the American people as optional. If we lose the House or the Senate, the work of reversing the Biden era collapses. Open borders return. Asylum claims for illegal entrants expand. ICE is defunded and pulled back. The people who want that outcome are organized. They are not waiting.

The Muslim community is mobilizing millions of registered voters, running registration drives out of mosques and coordinating turnout in key states. Their stated goal is to increase their political power. Many of those voters are explicit that they want cities and communities remade. Passivity is how you lose the country you grew up in. Passivity is what produced the scenes in Paris and Milan this past weekend: shops looted, cars and buildings set on fire, historic streets turned into battle zones while authorities scrambled. Those cities did not become unrecognizable overnight. They became unrecognizable because citizens treated the warning signs as someone else’s problem.

So many in this nation want to destroy your liberties, your safety, and your way of life. They are not shy about it. You need to vote like your life depends on it, because it does. Showing up once is not enough. Get involved in your community. Join a local Act for America chapter. Talk to your neighbors. Make sure every person who shares your view of the country is registered and has a plan to vote.

DSA and Democrats are organized and want to take over our country. If they outvote you, there is no point complaining when American cities start to look like the ones that burned this weekend. The midterms are 14 days away. Hold the House. Hold the Senate. Finish the job.

First They Came for the Jews: Muslims and Communists in France Target Jews in What the BBC Claims Are ‘Mostly Peaceful’ Protests as Country Burns

Muslim Rioting – Pro-Palestinian Antisemitism (RAIR Photo)

Police have lost control in the streets of France as Jewish business, synogogues, and homes are targeted. Roaming bands of Muslims and communists are armed with AK47s and Scorpion submachine guns as the BBC claims the protests are “mostly peaceful.” France has fallen.

    By Terresa Monroe-Hamilton

As images streamed of France literally on fire, the BBC took a page out of the Black Lives Matter/George Floyd riots reporting in America and unbelievably called the protests “mostly peaceful.” This occurred as rioters roamed the streets armed with AK47s and Scorpion submachine guns. Nothing to see here… in planned attacks, the Muslim migrants and communists targeted synagogues and Jewish businesses, leaving those that belong to the followers of Mohammed untouched. Still think this is about education and economics? Get real.

First They Came for the Jews

French journalist Paul Amar did an interview on CNews in France to discuss the violent Red/Green Alliance riots happening in the country and now across Europe.

One poor woman begged the mob not to destroy the business she works at, but the militant thugs pushed through the doors and mercilessly destroyed it anyway.

    https://twitter.com/streetwize/status/2111556312706203830

Amar pointed out that, at least in Marseille, Jewish shops were looted and burned. Muslim ones were spared.

“The degree of preparation for that day was very significant. They had the prefect’s address; her residence was set on fire,” he noted.

    https://twitter.com/realMaalouf/status/2111951432622764388

    https://twitter.com/EricLDaugh/status/2111962671071551670

“You can find the town hall’s address; it is always in the city centre,” he added. “But the prefectures’ address …they had the addresses of quite a few Jewish shop owners.”

“On one street in Marseille, I learned this this morning, all Jewish-owned businesses were set on fire,” Amar reported. “Businesses run by Muslims were not. That level of preparation raises questions. And the intelligence services knew.”

    https://twitter.com/arunpudur/status/2111887608506925392

“When chaos and violence take over the streets, synagogues are the first to suffer,” Sacha Roytman, CEO of CAM, said in a statement. “The desecration of the synagogue in Paris is a clear warning sign: What begins against Jews never stops there.”

“It can’t be a coincidence that they chose to target a Jewish place of worship,” the congregant told IsraJ. “They must have thought that since they are Jewish, there must be money there.”

Not a single mosque was touched by the riots. Not one.

    Spineless Macron Grovels

French President Emmanuel Macron attended a Celine Dion concert while his city burned, effectively telling citizens, “Let them eat cake!”

He hypocritically blasted the “unbridled violence” as rioters ravaged France over the weekend. Public buildings were burned, hundreds of shops destroyed and looted, and more than 2,500 people arrested in cities across the country, according to The Guardian.

As other leftist European leaders have whined over the chaos, he said in a televised address, “Watching these images, we have all asked ourselves how could French people do this to France?” He tried to straddle the political fence as well, saying there was a place for peaceful demonstration but decried those who “destroy, ransack and loot.” Just like his political comrades, he blamed “factious groups from the ultra-left, joined by numerous delinquents.”

    Another Caves to Islamic Pressure

Sadly, Marine Le Pen appeared to join the ranks of those making room for the Islamic thugs who are behind the destruction and terror in France. She now says Islam is “compatible with the Republic.”

    https://twitter.com/AmyMek/status/2111929783131177468

“In Limoges in central France, where the 19th-century town hall was burned down, the mayor, Guillaume Guérin, said the people who stormed his building ‘were not demonstrators that defend causes’ but ‘people organised for war.’ He said those who stormed and torched the town hall had told a building caretaker he would be killed, and told elected officials they would ‘burn.’ He said there had been a failure of the state to deal with the crisis. ‘Around 3.30pm our municipal police, although present in number, found themselves no longer able to fight against the violence of rioters because they had run out of ammunition,’ Guérin said. He called this ‘a colossal failure of the state,’” according to The Guardian.

Does that sound “compatible with the Republic?”

    “Mostly Peaceful” Protests

Meanwhile, the BBC and other media outlets are covering for the Red/Green Alliance savages. While literally showing masked rioters surrounding a car on fire, clashing with police, and storming a store, a BBC reporter called the violent protests “mostly peaceful.”

    https://twitter.com/koshercockney/status/2111972391425552576

    https://twitter.com/a_newgarden/status/2112139753483034676

James Waterhouse, BBC’s Paris correspondent, ridiculously stated, “In Paris and beyond, half a million people had filled cities across France to protest over the future of their country.”

“They were mostly peaceful, but as we saw in the capital, in the wings were those who wanted to take advantage of the disorder,” he added.

No mention of communists, Antifa, or the biggie… Islamic foot soldiers.

And it’s no surprise that the media is keeping the Palestinian flag out of view during its coverage.

Nothing says “mostly peaceful” like AK47s and Scorpion submachine guns.

    https://twitter.com/visegrad24/status/2112151900229374056

    Organized Revolt

Multiple outlets are now reporting that up to 54 radical groups are fueling the protests. That is no doubt true… but when you distill it down to ideology, you get Islam and communism.

Dozens of leftist groups are in the mix, including self-described communists and socialists, “Yellow Vests,” free Palestine activists and Islamic organizations, a new investigation has found, according to the New York Post.

Of the 54 groups, only 16 were identified as student- or youth-led, according to Fox News. The media outlet further found that there is an international coalition of 28 communist and socialist organizations that it dubbed “Chaos Inc.,” which has been trying to trigger coordinated labor strikes across 12 European countries.

    https://twitter.com/EricLDaugh/status/2112152906568757377

“Chaos Inc.” has been using the slogan, “Fight for Our Future, Not Their Wars!” They are calling for walkouts, demonstrations, assemblies, blockades, and occupations. Sound familiar, America?

Tricontinental Ltd., a nonprofit funded by US-born Marxist tech tycoon Neville Roy Singham, is behind a lot of this. Think CodePink and BreakThrough News.

Singham toadie Vijay Prashad, a Marxist who is executive director of Tricontinental Ltd., bragged on Saturday that the unrest in France was part of a broader wave of left-wing protests spanning three continents.

“Paris-New Delhi-Buenos Aires. Let fury have the hour, anger can be power,” Prashad posted on X, quoting a line by British punk band The Clash.

    https://twitter.com/sebastiankurz/status/2112097395253158195

Co-founder of CodePink and Singham’s wife, Jodie Evans, stirred the pot as well, calling for other protests worldwide and urging Americans to take to the streets in a recent interview with BreakThrough News.

“I want people to look at France, Spain, and India,” she incited.

    https://twitter.com/RAIRFoundation/status/2112015987168121156

Unsurprisingly, along with communists, the Muslim Student Association is in the mix. See Abdul El-Sayed.

Of the remaining 38 groups, you’ll find the expected communist organizations, labor unions, left-wing political parties, radical-left bodies, advocacy groups, and international propaganda outlets. This includes the Gilets Jaunes, or “Yellow Vests,” a radical far-left group that also led protests with other organizations over the weekend, and the far-left socialist political party La France Insoumise, or France Unbowed. Other groups include Extinction Rebellion, the international environmental activist movement; the anti-Israel movement Palestine Emergency; and farmer labor unions.

These are murderous communist and Islamic revolutionaries.

    Chaos, Looting, and Destruction

Rioters are hitting Louis Vuitton, Hermes, and Apple. Dior doesn’t trust the French police and has hired private security to protect its business interests.

    https://twitter.com/visegrad24/status/2111606441023054322

Mobs looted Galeries Lafayette, a luxury department store in Paris akin to Bergdorf Goodman or Harrods. Gangs of masked thugs were seen smashing storefronts and raiding shelves on Saturday.

And the Louvre was shut down by a bunch of protesters who look and act like demented hippies.

“The migrants have taken over France,” the president posted on Truth Social. “They must CLOSE THE BORDERS, FAST!”

Curfews have been imposed, and special riot police have been called up. None of that will work.

    https://twitter.com/RAIRFoundation/status/2111588166411186271

France has Lost Control of its Streets

Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez offered his resignation on Sunday. Macron asked him to stay “given the need for continued command of law enforcement in the current context,” according to a statement from the Elysee Palace that also instructed the minister to “ensure full transparency about the failures in planning and intelligence-gathering that led to the violence.”

“I submitted my resignation because I am responsible for everything that is happening,” Nuñez told France Inter radio, adding that “the real issue is ensuring that this doesn’t happen again … We obviously need to be better at anticipating the kind of mobilization that is unfolding.”

    https://twitter.com/AndrewKolvet/status/2112187392862155251

It’s Macron who should be resigning. His weak and feckless leadership has led France to the brink. He threw the borders open, and the demons flooded in.

    One French Leader Steps Up

One of the few sane leaders left in France is Éric Ciotti, the Mayor of Nice, France’s fifth-largest city. He is calling for the government to open terror investigations into the urban youth riots and to ban far-left militant groups like Antifa. He warned that “Islamo-Leftism” is seeking “to overthrow” the Republic.

    https://twitter.com/eciotti/status/2111466845186261014

“The National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office needs to step in and track down these far-left groups—these coordinated, organized structures that seek to attack the institutions of the Republic. It’s clear that institutions were targeted—not just in other cities, but here in our own city as well. They attempted to attack the town hall, for instance, and they also targeted police stations,” the Nice Mayor told broadcaster BFMTV.

Ciotti said that France is facing a “hybrid phenomenon” in which the far-left is coordinating and fueling riots from a “mix of Islamists and drug traffickers, or ‘narco-Islamists’,” and lower-level “armed robbers.”

“We are facing a red fascism, a French Intifada, a form of insurrection where Islamists, Antifa members, rioters, and looters—remotely controlled by the far left with terrorist aims—converge,” he said, referencing the Palestinian terror campaigns against Israel, adding that there are “more Palestinian flags than French flags” at the demonstrations.

    https://twitter.com/eciotti/status/2111901535684984855

    https://twitter.com/eciotti/status/2111891920897073266

“We must pursue these groups to the very end, and any associations that support them should be dissolved,” Ciotti stated.

These same “terrorists” are targeting Europe first because the people there are generally disarmed. But make no mistake, they have their sights set on America. Right now, they are being subversive in the US, taking over positions of influence and power. It is far more dangerous than outright violence and harder to fight.

Europe is about to fall, and America better brace herself. The enemy is already among us.

  22. Brandon Grotesque Font Family by HVD Fonts

Without a Doubt, Hannes von Döhren’s Brandon Grotesque Is the Geometric Sans Typeface With Manners.

I wrote a short post about it here years ago, but I have to admit that post undersold it because Brandon Grotesque is the best friendly geometric sans serif released since 2010. Hannes von Döhren’s family now spans 48 core styles, so Brandon Grotesque finally deserves a full review.

You can see them everywhere. Geometric sans serifs fill every startup homepage, but most of them feel cold. However, the Brandon Grotesque font family still feels like a person drew it. That quality explains why the family keeps winning projects sixteen years after its launch.

Brandon Grotesque is available for purchase from:

    MyFonts Fontspring

This review covers the typeface and the superfamily around it. It also names two working tools, the Role Ladder and the Handoff Threshold. Besides that, I give my honest criticism, because a font this popular needs some.

Brandon Grotesque font family by German typeface designer Hannes von Döhren of HVD Fonts.

What Makes Brandon Grotesque Different From Other Geometric Sans Serifs?

Brandon Grotesque is a geometric sans serif that Hannes von Döhren designed in 2009 and 2010. HVD Fonts publishes it in six weights with matching italics. The weights run from Thin to Black.

The influence comes from the 1920s and 1930s, the decades that gave us Futura. Von Döhren then corrected the geometric forms optically, so they read better on the page. In practice, he kept the circles and removed the stiffness.

I define warm geometry as a geometric skeleton with human proportions. Brandon Grotesque is the clearest example I know. The small x-height does much of the work, because short lowercase letters give every line a quiet, open texture.

Spacing matters just as much. Igino Marini of iKern spaced and kerned the fonts, and his work shows in every headline. Futura spreads wide across a line. By contrast, Brandon Grotesque holds its letters closer without losing air.

Gotham makes a useful contrast. It has a large x-height and a sturdy, civic tone. Brandon Grotesque sounds quieter and more personal. I would choose Brandon Grotesque over Futura for any brand that wants people to like it, not just admire it.

Who Is Hannes von Döhren, and What Is HVD Fonts?

From Art Director to Full-Time Type Designer

Hannes von Döhren is a German type designer based in Berlin. He worked as an art director at an advertising agency before he turned to type in 2008. HVD Fonts released its first family, Embryo, in March 2009.

That agency background shapes everything he draws. He says he always judges a typeface from the graphic designer’s seat too. So Brandon Grotesque solves problems that art directors actually face. Think of a logo that must look friendly on a bakery bag and credible on an invoice.

    What HVD Fonts Builds

HVD Fonts publishes playful and professional typefaces side by side. The catalog includes FF Mark, Pluto, Reklame Script, Niveau Grotesk, and HVD Comic Serif, the Comic Sans spoof. With his lifelong friend Livius Dietzel, von Döhren also created Livory, Brix Slab, and FF Basic Gothic.

The studio also takes custom commissions. Clients have included Lufthansa, Volkswagen, Hyundai, and Walmart. Awards followed too. Brandon Grotesque earned a Type Directors Club award in 2011. The foundry also lists iF and Red Dot awards.

Which Brandon Subfamilies Make the Superfamily So Complete?

Brandon Grotesque no longer stands alone. By my count, the superfamily now holds 64 styles across seven families, and each one has a clear job. The table below shows the Role Ladder I use to keep them straight.

FamilyStylesYearJob on the ladderBrandon Grotesque122010Headlines, wordmarks, brand voiceBrandon Text122012Body copy at small sizesBrandon Grotesque Condensed122018Tight headlines, packaging, postersBrandon Text Condensed12After 2018Narrow captions, tables, interface labelsBrandon Printed82014Textured display, badges, labelsBrandon Grotesque Office4Not statedDisplay text in Microsoft OfficeBrandon Text Office4Not statedBody text in Microsoft Office

    Brandon Grotesque, the Display Voice

The original family has twelve styles. HVD says Thin and Black perform best at display sizes, while the middle weights suit longer texts. I agree with the first half. For the second half, I keep Brandon Grotesque to short passages and hand long reading to its companion.

    Brandon Text, the Reading Voice

Brandon Text arrived in 2012 as the companion to Brandon Grotesque. It has a higher x-height, and HVD optimized it for long texts and small sizes on screens. It also offers six weights with italics, so the twelve styles mirror the original. The two families pair without friction because they share one skeleton.

    The Condensed Pair

Brandon Grotesque Condensed appeared in 2018. HVD drew it from scratch and kept it near 83 percent of the original width. Sharp angles give it a sterner face than its wider sibling. After that followed Brandon Text Condensed to complete the series, and it started from the Grotesque Condensed shapes.

    Brandon Printed, the Textured Cousin

Brandon Printed debuted in January 2014 with eight styles. It gives Brandon Grotesque an eroded, printed look. Shadow and inline versions let you stack layers. The package also includes 95 extras, such as arrows, stars, emblems, and lines. Note that the fine detail can slow some applications.

    The Office Sets

Brandon also covers Microsoft Office. Brandon Text Office contains four style-linked fonts. The B and I buttons in Word and PowerPoint therefore work as expected. HVD hinted them by hand. A Brandon Grotesque Office set offers four styles as well.

How Does Brandon Grotesque Behave in Real Layouts?

    Headlines and Wordmarks

Medium is the best weight in the family. I reach for it first in wordmarks because it keeps the friendly curves without the weight of Bold. Bold still earns its place in headlines. Black belongs on posters and packaging, where size forgives its density.

Which weight would you pick for a bakery logo? Set three weights side by side at 48 px and compare the counters. The differences appear faster than any spec sheet suggests.

    All-Caps Labels

The capitals look elegant, yet small all-caps labels need extra room. I add 20 to 40 units of tracking and then check the result at actual size. Without that step, a row of capitals can read as one gray block.

Long Text and the Handoff Threshold

The Handoff Threshold is the size where a layout should pass text from Brandon Grotesque to Brandon Text. My rule sits at about 16 px on screen and 10 pt in print. Below that line, the higher x-height of Brandon Text wins on clarity. Where does your layout start to strain?

Test it yourself. Set one paragraph in each family at 11 pt and compare the lowercase. You will see the difference in rhythm within a few lines.

    Numerals, Alternates, and Language Coverage

The whole Brandon series offers alternate letters and fractions, plus several sets of numbers. That matters for menus and price lists. Check the figure styles before you start a table-heavy project. Also, the family supports at least 116 languages, including Greek and Cyrillic.

Creative Cloud subscribers can activate Brandon Grotesque through Adobe Fonts. That route lets you test it in a real layout before you buy a desktop license.

Where Does Brandon Grotesque Fall Short?

Brandon Grotesque has three weak spots, and I will name them plainly.

First, Thin looks fragile. Below about 24 px, the hairlines fade on ordinary screens. Use that weight only for large display lines.

Second, popularity dulls distinction. Many boutique brands use the family, so a Brandon Grotesque wordmark rarely looks unique. I call this Brandon Fatigue. The cure is a distinctive pairing, such as a high-contrast serif next to the headlines.

Third, the cost adds up. At the time of writing, each 12-style family lists at $249, so the four core families reach $996. Brandon Printed adds $99. As far as I know, no variable version exists either, so continuous weight axes are off the table.

How Does Brandon Grotesque Compare With Futura, Gotham, and Avenir?

Comparisons help most when they name specifics. The table below sets four geometric sans serifs side by side. In my view, Avenir comes closest to Brandon Grotesque in temperament, although its x-height runs taller.

TypefaceDesignerYearX-heightToneBest useFuturaPaul Renner1927SmallFormal, coolFashion and editorial headlinesGothamTobias Frere-Jones2000LargeSturdy, civicSignage and institutional campaignsAvenirAdrian Frutiger1988ModerateSmooth, balancedCorporate text and brandingBrandon GrotesqueHannes von Döhren2010SmallWarm, personalWordmarks, packaging, headlines

How Should You Choose the Right Brandon Family?

The Role Ladder gives each Brandon family one job. Brandon Grotesque speaks for the brand, and Brandon Text carries the reading. Condensed saves space, Printed adds texture, and the Office sets keep Word documents consistent. Pick the rung before you pick the weight.

Next, apply the Handoff Threshold. Then check for Brandon Fatigue before you present. If a wordmark could belong to any boutique, change the pairing and keep the typeface.

What Will Happen to Brandon Grotesque in 2027 and Beyond?

I predict four developments. First, HVD will release variable versions of the family. None exist today as far as I know, and weight axes now matter for responsive design.

Second, the condensed pair will grow fastest. Dashboards and mobile interfaces need narrow, legible text, and Brandon Text Condensed fits that gap.

Third, Brandon Printed will ride the texture trend. Brands that want an analog feel will set its eroded surface against clean digital layouts.

Fourth, Brandon Fatigue will push designers toward unusual pairings. Expect Brandon Grotesque headlines beside sharp serifs rather than beside another geometric sans.
