@Xenograg As I practice #XingYi myself, I felt that was an interesting blog post you linked! Thanks. The comments, as usual, was a mixed bag.

It's easier to open a school and sell the idea of "self defence" than a "martial art" today, so it makes a lot of sense from that perspective to talk about "defence". Xingyi is a bit interesting there, as it's clearly quite attack focused.

But, I have to ask, what did it has to do with D&D and those other things you tagged your toot with?
