  1. Thinking of going to @EuroGeosciences GA2025? We have a session on 'Earth resilience, tipping points and human-Earth system interactions in the Anthropocene' - abstract deadline is Wednesday 15th Jan. 13:00 CET!

Convened by Jonathan Donges along with Lan Wang Erlandsson, Ricarda Winkelmann, Nico Wunderling, & myself. Looking forward to this year's submissions!

  2. Deep roots. We think of #conservation as a relatively young scientific enterprise - it didn’t have an organized professional society until the mid 1980s. But George Perkins Marsh wrote about the #anthroposcene in his 1864 book #man and #nature When he described humans as a “new geographical force.” Ray Dasmann, over 50 years ago, was talking about #socioecologicalsystems ”environmental conservation based on ecological knowledge and social understanding is required.” Know your #history !

  3. Happy of having spent the last days of my #PhD in #BodegaMarineLab with the rest of the group my #research on #KelpForest is a part of. Talking about #Kelp, #Modelling, and #SocioEcologicalSystems, and how I can contribute further as I leave the group for my #postdoc

  4. #Introduction (work): I'm a #scientist. Exactly what kind of scientist isn't that important, but if we go down that road, I've been trained in #palaeobiology, #ecology and #paleontology, but nowadays I am working on #SocioEcologicalSystems and how human #society are using #NaturalResources. I am drawn towards #ComplexSystemTheory and networks, and I'm interested about the #DeepRoots of the #SystemicConnections between #nature, #climate, #HumanSocieties and #ResourceUse.
