"There's no four-way stop. We're on the corner of the district office, and there's not a school #crosswalk here. There's three hills where people #speed down. We don't have #SpeedBumps. It's just, it's a dangerous intersection.β https://www.ksbw.com/article/pacific-grove-student-injured-scooter-crash/65608797

"The small city of Hailey, Idaho, for instance, experienced a staggering single-year jump of 53 points, rising to a total score of 77 and technically outpacing the top-ranked large city on the list, thanks in large part to an effort to drop speed limits as low as 15 to 20 miles per hour on many of its streets.β

California Assembly Bill 1014
#AB1014
#SlowSpeedsSaveLivesJust today a woman who bikes sent me a video showing a motor vehicle as it struck her at the end of West Broadway Urban Village in Seaside. We shuddered to think how much more sheβd have suffered if it were going faster.
"So far, the bill has faced no registered opposition and has drawn support from a broad coalition, including the California Bicycle Coalition / #CalBike, Rural County Representatives of California and Streets Are For Everyone. Supervisor Chris Lopez has also shown support for the proposal.β βReport by KYARRA HARRIS in #MontereyHerald

#SanDiegoCounty"California Speed Trap Law requires the city to survey the prevailing speeds on classified streets every seven years in order to keep speed limits radar enforceable. The speed limits are set based on the average flow of traffic, within five miles per hour of the 85th percentile speed. According to the memo from the city traffic engineers, the results of the study indicated the posted speed limit must be raisedβ¦.The logic of the law was hard for the board to understand, as the majority believed speed limits should be based on safety, not how fast people are driving.β
