  1. Project "Turn a Perfectly Good DS413 Into a Moderately Okay PowerPC Game Machine", Step 1: success!

    To wit, I have enabled UART pins on my Raspberry Pi 3b and have successfully sent characters back and forth to the Pi itself.

    Next step: connect to the DS413 and prevent it from booting automatically into the installed DSM version, whatever that may be.

    After that I have to get NetBSD set up on its tiny Flash, but how hard can that be? >_>

  6. Further irony: the Raspberry Pi 3b is arguably more capable than the DS413's P1022 core, containing twice as many cores running 20% faster at twice the native bandwidth (64 bits vs 32 bits)... but it's not PowerPC, so I'm using it to save buying a $15 cable.

    I feel like this happens a lot in retro-computing :)
