I've had a set of #odroid mc-1 boards for a while waiting for a project I never executed on. Today I finally put them two of them to use as clustered #Technitium DNS servers and cleaned up my previous nameserver configuration. Have full configuration, including zone and record management into #Ansible.

Got my ODROID-U3 (Exynos4412, 2013) running kernel 6.12.12 on Ubuntu 22.04. Key points:

- U-Boot 2020.10 is required. Check yours with `sudo strings /dev/mmcblk1boot0 | grep "U-Boot 20"`
- Generic Ubuntu kernels won't boot — missing Exynos4412-specific patches
- Solution: use hexdump0815's precompiled kernels from https://github.com/hexdump0815/linux-mainline-and-mali-generic-stable-kernel release `6.12.12-stb-exy+` tested on U3+
- Hold generic kernels: `sudo apt-mark hold
- Remove `flash-kernel` if installed

Last night’s 3D print: a grip for my (@lucy’s?) ODROID-GO Advance! I dusted off the little handheld retro gaming console, flashed a new OS, fixed the joystick, and have been playing it a lot—but the form factor is not the most comfortable.

@PierreLecourt je viens de me prendre un N97 et un N305. Les deux viennent de chez #Hardkernel\#Odroid
Le premier a déjà deux port 2,5 Gbps Intel et j'y ai ajouter la carte d'extension ethernet 4 port en Intel aussi I226-V. Ca sera mon routeur pfsense avec VPN, DNS, Antipub, Firewall avec a terme deux réseaux personnels, un réseau invité, un ou deux réseaux externes exposés pour des serveurs web public par exemple.
Ce sera #pfsense ou #opnsense dessus.

Interessant, dass #HomeAssistant noch den alten #Odroid-C2 unterstützt.
Somit habe ich zufällig ein Testsystem. Und (vorläufig) eine Verwendung für das ehemalige #CoreELEC Mediacenter. 🙂

Ist allerdings gerade nur klickibunti ohne Konsole - und somit komme ich wohl nicht per LIRC an den IR-Empfänger dran...

...aber eins nach dem Anderen. Erstmal gucken, ob ich die Taster und Relais synchronisiert bekomme.

Back when I ordered it people were saying the #RGArcS wasn't powerful enough for #SegaSaturn, but I finally got around to playing the #Saturn games that came with it and they seem plenty fast!

As cheap as these #Odroid #SBC boards are I've a mind to buy some in bulk and make some #Saturn shaped cases with #3dprinting. Buy some cheap USB Saturn controllers and make my own #SaturnMinis to sell and give as gifts!

Funny thing about SBCs.. you never truly know what uboot and kernel combination is gonna be stable and stay online until you run it.

(I actually have this thing running in a colo 1000 miles from me--hence my hesitancy to update)

The apps available where quite underwhelming, but it makes sense since it has been discontinued since forever.

@Oskar hace poco pasé por lo mismo que tú, no tenía #nextcloud, pero si otros servicios de monitorización, #pihole, #bookwyrn, #wordpress, etc. que provocaron que mi #Rpi3 ya no diese de más, la pobre 😀

Viendo los precios que tenían la Orange y la nueva Rpi, incluso #odroid para traerla desde Corea, opté finalmente por un #minipc o #nuc. Básicamente porque la diferencia de precios ya no existe, incluso puedes encontrar algo más barato. Y en cuanto a potencia no hay color.

Si lo que te preocupa, como era a mí, el consumo energético te podría decir que varía muy poco. Vas a pagar si dejas el minipc encendido todos los días 24x7 unos 2€ más al mes, lo que son 20€ más al año (más o menos) o incluso menos.

Have been running a #Minecraft server here for my kid and his friends, on a #RaspberryPi4B with 4Gb RAM. They say that that's the minimum ram. Buuuuut.. I have several 3B's here, one of which I'd like to repurpose for the task. I get that I should run it off of a separate USB HD or SSD due to lots of writes, and I have one of those. Curious as to exactly how much power I need spare in order to stand up a server that maybe 5-6 people will be using. Worth a shot.. 🤷‍♂️ 👍

Oh. And I have an old #ODROID C2 gathering dust which I might look at for the task. If memory serves, despite being from 2017 the C2 is still more powerful than the Pi4.

I have created a very easy to use SDK package for the Odroid-Go Ultra, Hardkernel's handheld gaming device . You can use the package to compile SDL2 C/C++ programs on the device and to cross-compile them on an Ubuntu Linux PC.
