Tonight's #HomeLab task was migrating my last two machines to pkgbase, using the pkgbasify script on #FreeBSD

The first, a HP Gen 8 Microserver, that's mostly a NAS, went without a hitch.

The second, a #RasperryPi 3B+ kept failing when running in tmux - the tmux session would crash and then the conversion would stop. I then ran the script with --force, without using tmux, and it seemed to go through ok and thinks it's converted. Everything seems to work as expected after a reboot. Will have to see the next time there's an update if that works.

Now that we are definitely NOT moving house, I have been bringing my numerous #RasperryPi machines out of storage.

Over on #Hackster, meanwhile, there's the news that #RasperryPi OS is moving to requiring password authentication for each use of sudo.

Which means a *lot* of tutorials are going to need an extra step adding!

Ich habe heute einiges über Jellyfin gelesen. Stelle mir das so vor, dass ich damit meine eigene persönliche Audiothek im Heimnetz auf einen Rasperry Pi (headless) mit USB-Festplatte friemeln und dann über die Weboberfläche mit Laptop, Smartphone und Co. drauf zugreifen kann.

Und dann brauch ich mir zum einpennen, keine Gedanken mehr ums Hörbuch machen. Verstehe ich das richtig?

Also ich weiß ja nicht, ob das ein aktuelles Thema ist, aber ich hätte gerade nicht schlecht Lust, meinen ganzen #Apple Kram gegen #FOSS Alternativen auszutauschen. Angefangen vom Apple TV gegen nen #rasperrypi mit OSMC, weiter über den Mac Mini gegen ne Kiste, auf der #Ardour flüssig läuft, über das iPad, das durch ein Surface Go mit #Linux ersetzt werden kann hin zum iPhone, das einem Pixel mit #GrapheneOS weichen würde. Hat jemand damit Erfahrungen? Apple-Dienste nutze ich kaum…

Wohoo it's working. The #rasperrypi zero is fetching the latest images from the #synology NAS when the frame is powered on.
Also found a way to disconnect the gadget from the frame using #configfs. That allows to update the data on the USB drive,disconnect and connect again, so that new content will be displayed without restarting the frame.

Has someone out there ever tried to get a #BambuLab Printer, remove the proprietary mainboard and put in a new board and a #rasperrypi with #klipper on it? Would surely be interesting to see the results...

Any recommendations for a #rasperrypi like device that I can use for my local DNS (#Technitium)? I’ll be using it as a backup to #pihole which is currently on my #proxmox server.

Here's the reason this took time to want to fix. Had a #RasperryPi 400, with the Sparkfun adapter. Got a 500, and the form factor was *just* different enough that 1 of the 2 HDMI ports was blocked. So, dangly extension time...

I've been working since the beginning of the year to get in to a situation whereby I can upload a #TimeLapse to #YouTube of that days #RasperryPi based #twitch stream, operated by #ffmpeg. Today is day 2.
Here is a HEAVILY edited screenshot from todays stream to celebrate.

Okay, so I’m thinking a utronics cluster case for my #RasperryPi servers, with a tp-link PoE+ switch so that they’re all wired into the router and getting power from that. I’d still need to have the second #PiHole located somewhere else as having it on the same power supply and located in the same place is dumb for failover.

So, I’d need to get the case, switch, and some PoE hats. And think where I’d put this

Es ist zum verzweifeln. Wollte in der Familie einen #RasperryPi mit #PiHole installieren (Nr. 5 die ich eigenhändig installiere).

Aus irgendwelchen Gründen hängt er sich nach ein paar Stunden so auf, dass niemand im Netzwerk mehr ins Internet kommt. Strom aus/ein, und er läuft wieder wie geschmiert, bis er sich ein paar Stunden später wieder aufhängt.

Alle anderen Pis laufen teilweise seit Jahren ohne Probleme und Unterbrechungen.

Ich kann den Fehler nicht finden 😵‍💫

I‘m setting up a dedicated #RasperryPi which will host a website showing a live picture of the device and some random things.

There will be an input field, where the special magic numbers of #LOST needs to be entered every 108 minutes.
If not, the electricity delivery to the device will not be extended.

Das hier ist übrigens mein #WetterRaspi. #Sensehat wasserdicht umhüllt, dafür mit diversen Ventilationsöffnungen. Das leider ziemlich kurze Flachbandkabel passt eben so durch den Fensterrahmen.
