A whole article about how people who've been "left behind" are turning to One Nation, not one mention of socioeconomics, not one mention of the crippling social security and disability systems in Australia.
Just talking about workers, and educating people. Get fucked.
People were dumb and working when they voted for you before, just as they are right now when they won't vote for you. What's changed is they can't afford to rent a house, their salaries are shit, and social security no longer fills gaps; not Job Seeker, not Austudy, not Disability Pensions, not even Family Tax Benefits.
Everything has been tied to headline inflation, which means for poor people, finances have gone back by as much as 10% per year. That compounds, and compounds, and when a review said things were dire, Labor said "We can't do all the nice things".
"Maybe One Nation can" is the first thing Labor voters think, even if it's not promised. Because they've been told by Labor for 20 years now that "The Greens are evil"

It seems rich lefties are baffled as to why, during a "cost-of-living" (poverty) crisis, crime is going up and up.
A lot of really smart people miss some pretty basic shit when it comes to poverty. You can reduce our rents, you can offer us programs, but if you don't give us enough money to live, you're forcing us to give up some of our dignity to survive.
This is the intent of a cruel unemployment system. Remove dignity to drive people into work.
Except, it doesn't work like that.
Once you start removing people's dignity by forcing them to skip meals, rummage through bins, or beg on the street, it's much easier to see yourself as no longer being part of the society you exist in.
When the needle tips far enough, crime seems less ethically fraught.
The easiest way to reduce crime is to raise the rate

Gotta love how stories on rising crime are interspersed with stories about cost-of-living and housing crises, with the odd "JobSeeker needs to be raised" story, but everyone's still confused as to how crime works.
When you strip people's dignity, their agency, and their financial security, expect crime.
Especially after it was shown during COVID lockdowns that we can make life easier for poor people with very little cost

People do get exploited on the cashless welfare card, because that's the point, and why us poor people are fighting against it, rather than trying to figure a way around it.
It's either that or crime - come to think of it, it's #RaiseTheRate or crime, as we're seeing right now - because that's so much easier than coming up with some alternate currency and having treasury stomping us into the ground
