It was being kept outside in the shade, so only indirect light. We're in N TX == 100 degrees for the last several weeks. I believe she was watering it very frequently.
The last time I saw it was a couple months ago, and it was gorgeous.

Been a while. Lets do a new #introduction post.

I'm Erika, a Canadian with a cat, a husband, and my first baby on the way (due in October). :queercat_autism: :queercat_enby: :queercat_ace: :QueerCat_Bisexual:

2026 has been a year of big changes for me. I lost someone close to me, been #Pregnant every day of the year so far, started a new job, and will be moving into my new home in the next month or two. I'm looking forward to re-watching Twin Peeks with my husband in the newborn sleep-deprived trenches.

Hobbies at the top of my mind right now are writing to #PenPals, #Reading, #Journaling, #Knitting, and figuring out my ideal use of #ObsidianMD. I also enjoy all sorts of #Crafting such as #Crochet, #CrossStitch, #SlowStitching, #Mending, #NeedleFelting, and #BookBinding. I do a lot of the #Cooking and #Baking in my home since I don't have a commute outside of my cat tripping me on my way to and from my office. Other things I spend my time on include #TarotReading, #FountainPens, #DnD, #SoloRPG, #HousePlants, #CozyGames. I'm really looking forward to getting back to #WeightLifiting and my usual #Yoga.

I'm still a #Salesforce consultant, focused on not-for-profits. And, of course, I like ants.

Introducing Gibasis 'Europa'! The second of my four new Gibasis cultivars this year.

'Europa' has unusually-coloured leaves, which range from dark olive green to burgundy. In bright light they develop streaks of purple along the centre and edges of the leaves. The last picture shows the colour of a typical stem of Europa (centre) compared to 'Tahitian Bridal Veil' (left) and 'Purple Bridal Veil' (right).

'Europa', along with 'Io' and the other two coming up, will be available to buy for UK delivery soon!

New cultivar registration: Gibasis 'Io'!

I bred this myself last year. Its parents are G. pellucida 'Purple Bridal Veil', and G. 'Jose Puig'. I actually got a whole lot of seedlings from this pairing, with a huge amount of interesting variations. I'm registering four of them altogether, so keep an eye out for the other announcements soon! I'll also be selling all of them (for UK delivery only) this summer.

'Io' has medium green leaves which are quite similar to the common 'Tahitian Bridal Veil' at a glance. Except the edges of the leaves are distinctly wavy or crinkly, and the surfaces are less glossy. The last picture shows a comparison, with 'Io' on the left.

Your bi-yearly tip on #anthurium care. If you want to extend the red colour - snip off the yellow spadix, once the flower(looks like a leaf) turns fully red. That extends the red for much longer.
This particular plant(we have several of these) was gifted to my Mom from a former Filipino coworker. Mom loves this particular anthurium because it's the biggest & healthiest out of all the ones we have. It's a good indoor air filtration plant.

Moved 4 of my flamingo flower plants outdoors for Summer open air time.

#FlamingoFlower is good at absorbing airborne chemicals released by common cleaning products & general pollutants. It's particularly good at absorbing harmful chemicals like ammonia & formaldehyde from the air.

Be careful if you have cats who love houseplants because it's toxic to felines. Asher has no interest in any houseplants so we are quite lucky because most cats like to sniff/chew on houseplants. He avoids the houseplants & only likes his little cat grass pot. Don't keep these in your home if your cat is obsessed with plants.
