It's been decades since I last wrote anything in #Commodore assemby, and the first time I wrote one on the #Commodore16 / #Plus4. Amazed it worked, even if it only used standard kernel routines.

40 new games for the Plus/4 (and the upgraded C16).

It is impressive the comeback of this platform. It sold bad at time for mismanagement from Commodore, getting only later a niche in Europe. TED chip is a lot more capable than it was given for, but it never got the chance to shine until modern times.

Il C16/Plus4 sta rivivendo quella giovinezza che non ha avuto all'epoca della commercializzazione. I ports dei giochi usciti negli ultimi anni sono stupefacenti.

L'unica differenza tecnica tra C16 e Plus4 è solo la quantità di memoria e le applicazioni in ROM. Oggi è comune espandere il C16 per permettergli di eseguire il software Plus4, con il vantaggio di una tastiera molto migliore.

More fun with C264 series - I also got these three "modern" Plus/4 game cartridges a friend bought at some retro meeting to try out. They all work fine, unsurprisingly.

These don't work in a C16, they need more RAM. So out comes my 64K-expanded C116! 😁

The Elite port by Pigmysoft is a true classic, the Stunt Car Racer port is a modern masterpiece. Mad Pod Race I did not know from before -it seems to be a Plus/4 original? Anyway, It was fun to try it out.

Here is another project I've been working on: https://github.com/ytmytm/1551-RAMBOard-FirstBank

It's a RAMBOard, but for 1551. As far as I know this is the first of its kind. Just like on 1541-II a small daughterboard that plugs into the ROM socket. It adds 8K of RAM ($8000-$9FFF) plus 8K of extra ROM space ($A000-$BFFF).

There is a patched ROM which uses the extra RAM as a track cache: it reads the entire track in one disk revolution, then serves subsequent sector reads from memory. Same idea as the track caching ROMs I did for 1541 and 1571.

The project also includes a tiny fastloader wedge (HypaRAM) that calls the code embedded in the patched ROM. The same fastloader is already supported by the latest version of Parobek ROM for C16/116/Plus4.

The performance is on par with DolphinDOS - about 27x faster than a stock 1541, about 7x faster than a stock 1551.

Da una preview del 1992 con sprite rubati e fondali banali, in una parabola di 15 anni, Csabo KiCHY e Unreal tirano fuori un puzzler arcade-adventure dotato di una storia sci-fi avvincente, grafica convincente con effetti a sorpresa, 21 brani che si adattano dinamicamente al gioco, collisioni al pixel, 4 criteri di finale, 4 livelli di difficoltà, un bad ending segreto.
