Dinamarca comienza a sustituir trenes diesel por trenes eléctricos con batería. En la noticia se describen la primera línea con un tramo de 63 km donde están circulando. Denmark's replacing diesel trains. In this piece of news it is described a first line with a track of 67km between chargers. IMO this project, that started last summer, is really interesting and could be adapted to numerous places with partial or no electrification (DA: https://ing.dk/artikel/nu-ruller-der-batteritog-paa-det-statslige-jernbanenet)

#DearFedi, does anyone happen to know a website or an app that I could use to easily highlight (as in using color) selected parts of the #railway network (ideally by choosing two stations to get everything in between highlighted), so I could mark which parts of the network I've already traversed, and then share it with you? (needs to include Polish railways)

Hmm. In #OpenStreetMap #OSM the railway line between Lučenec and Fiľakovo is marked as "under construction" (and #OpenRailwayMap also shows electrification ongoing). But according to the planner of #ZSSK trains are just running via that line. Outdated information in OpenStreetMap? Or someone mistakenly marked it under construction while only electrification is plannend?

ORM renders abandoned and razed rails. Many OSM communities understandably frown upon adding features that aren't visible on the field any more, which railway=razed is.

Would it be an idea to stop rendering railway=abandoned and railway=razed from #OpenStreetMap and instead pull in historical railways from #OpenHistoricalMap? #OpenRailwayMap could even grow a dedicated "history" layer.

I think this would be beneficial for ORM, OHM and OSM!

I like maps but somehow I missed this excellent map with all railways in Europe.

Just had a look on #OpenRailwayMap and didn't realise that there's quite a lot of Scotland without speed limits, as well as the Cardiff Valley Lines & Heart of Wales line. Think those will take some time.

I can see that Castle Carey to Dorchester needs doing, as well as Royal Tonbridge Wells to Bo Peep Junction and Dover to Minster via Deal. So will do them first and then start moving west into Cymru :blobcat_happie:

Readability of #OpenRailwayMap could be significantly better tbh…

Ein sehr schönes Projekt, das @partim da vorantreibt mit der Railwayhistory-Map. Es gibt einen dicken Daumen hoch von mir. Im frühen Stadium (soweit ich es beurteilen kann) schon sehr schöne Daten vorhanden und gut dargestellt. Wobei gerade der Blick auf Brandenburg stellenweise doch sehr frustrierend ist.

Solange die Strecke noch befahren wird, ist es allerhöchste Zeit sie für die #OpenRailwayMap zu befahren: die #Wieslautertalbahn von Hinterweidenthal Ost nach Bundenthal-Rumbach. Passend zum Nebenbahnflair fährt ein 628er. Desiro wäre mir bzgl. GNSS-Empfang lieber gewesen.
