Un #traintrackTuesday XXL aujourd'hui avec ces photos d'archives prises lors d'un des voyages spéciaux en septembre 2006.
La gare d'Alexisbad sur la Selketalbahn est un must pour tout photographe ferrioviaire. La voie de gauche mène à Stiege où la ligne rejoint la Harzquerbahn tandis que celle de droite se dirige vers Harzgerode.
Ce jours là, nous avons eu droit à deux départs en parallèle. Un premier presque "régulier" et un second avec le train spécial.
La troisième photo montre le train spécial dans la courbe de retournement à Stiege.

A XXL #traintrackTuesday today with these archive photos taken during one of the special trips in September 2006.
Alexisbad on the Selketalbahn is a must for any railway photographer. The track on the left leads to Stiege where the line joins the Harzquerbahn while the track on the right heads towards Harzgerode.
That day, we could enjoy two parallel departures. One almost "regular" and a second with the special train.
The third photo shows the special train in the reversal curve at Stiege.

🇫🇷 Bertrix, un samedi soir de début septembre 2016, je desservais le train 5969 pour Virton mais le voyage s'arrêta là. La cause, une voiture avait endommagé le passage à niveau à Saint-Mard obligeant le gestionnaire de l'infrastructure a opéré une coupure de courant. Pour les quelques voyageurs présents, ce sera retour avec le dernier train deux heures plus tard. Pour le conducteur et pour moi-même, ce sera retour en taxi pour éviter un trop long dépassement de prestation. Cette photo est née dans l'attente du taxi. Le conducteur qui m'accompagnait est décédé il y a quelques années déjà. Une photo et des souvenirs en même temps... pour ce #traintrackTuesday
🇬🇧 Bertrix, one Saturday evening early September. I was working on train 5969 Virton but the journey ended there. The cause, a car had damaged the level crossing in Saint-Mard and the infrastructure manager was forced to cut the electric power. For the few passngers on board, they had to wait the next train two hours later. For the driver and for me, a taxi was called so that we didn't had too much exceeding working time. This photo was taken while waiting for the taxi. The driver I was working with has died a few years ago. A photo full of memories... for this #traintrackTuesday

The Lartigue monorail in Listowel, Ireland, is different from other monorails that I've seen 😀
‘The Lartigue Monorail system was developed by the French engineer Charles Lartigue (1834–1907). He further developed a horse drawn monorail system, which had been invented by Henry Robinson Palmer in 1821…. Instead of the conventional two parallel rails on the ground, it had a single rail sitting above the sand and held at waist height on A-shaped trestles. The carriages sat astride the trestles like panniers.’

The train carried passengers, freight, cattle and sand from the Ballybunion sand-hills. … The line was only barely financially viable for the whole of its existence; it is reputed never to have made a profit. The closure was hastened by the severe damage that was inflicted on the line during the civil war of 1921-23.
… The Railway has about 1000 metres of monorail track, three switches, two turntables and three platforms representing Listowel, Lisselton and Ballybunion. There is one engine, which is an exact reproduction of the original engines, save that the present engine (62 Loco No. 4 0-2-0) is diesel driven. There are two third class carriages, modeled as closely as possible on the originals, using photographs and the memory of those who traveled in them.’
