ZSSK at Žilina station is a complete shit show. Departure platforms are consistently announced very late. In our case 4 minutes before departure leading to a massive scrum to get to the train.
With Sacha's disabilities and the lack of lift or escalators - well, it wouldn't have been our fault if we had caused a departure delay. (We didn't but it left before we'd sat down).

Equally unimpressed at the moment with #regiojet - no luggage space in 'Business Class' and the conductor made a big deal of his failure to scan our #interrail passes (not my fault - it's your equipment).
And - while I'm on a roll - what's with the frosting on the compartment corridor glass so that I can't see the scenery except through the window?

I'll calm down in a bit!

Hmm. In #OpenStreetMap #OSM the railway line between Lučenec and Fiľakovo is marked as "under construction" (and #OpenRailwayMap also shows electrification ongoing). But according to the planner of #ZSSK trains are just running via that line. Outdated information in OpenStreetMap? Or someone mistakenly marked it under construction while only electrification is plannend?

Die #EU steckt einen Haufen Geld in Bahninfrastruktur. Sie sollte sich auch um Buchungssysteme für den öffentlichen Verkehr kümmern. Momentan ist das ein teurer Tarifdschungel. Wenn ich dieselbe Verbindung bei der #DB buche, zahle ich nicht gleich viel wie bei der #ÖBB oder der #ZSSK. Außerdem wäre es doch toll, wenn man sich ein #Klimaticket zum Beispiel für Salzburg und Bayern kaufen könnte.

First coach in the rake was my first attempt at fitting interior lights. Looks very cozy I think esp behind the beautiful 240 "Laminatka" hauling it. Will attempt to add lighting to the remaining coaches in a similar fashion.

Und tatsächlich: nach einer Weile dröhnte ein Güterzug auf breiter Spur herbei mit zwei gewaltigen Maschinen. Es handelte sich um zwei E-Loks von Škoda der Reihe 125.8 der #Žssk Cargo. Meine erste Begegnung mit einem Zug auf 1520mm. Der Tag war also gerettet. (4/7)

🇨🇿🇸🇰🇭🇺🥞☕️ On my way to #Budapest🇭🇺, I joined EC 279 "Metropolitan" at #Bratislava🇸🇰 main train station. A famous #CrossBorderRail-service with a nice #ZSSK🇸🇰 half 1st class, half Bistro #diningcar, catered by #JLV🇨🇿 and a scenic ride alongside river #Danube🌊!

I went for the signature dessert dish: mouthwatering "Palačinka", chocolate🍫 pancake with whipped cream👌!

Got my ticket, and yes, I could have bought it on the #ZSSK app or website. But I don't understand why #ÖBB cannot sell it, if they sell it in the other direction?! One cannot expect every member of the public to download 27 different apps for 27 European countries!

🇸🇰🥗🍺 It was the perfect dish on a wonderful ride though the Austrian fields 😍. A mouthwatering and fresh "Grécky šalát" together with a nice "Stanicna beer" at the classical #ZSSK🇸🇰 #diningcar with IC45 from #Vienna🇦🇹 to #Bratislava🇸🇰 and #Košice🇸🇰.

What a nice start in the beginning of a 3 weeks long ride through #Europe🇪🇺! 😎

Arrived in #Kralovny, beautiful station hall. Train to #Trstená is turning back. #Ex606 #Tatran to #Bratislava is announced with 30min delay... I was planning on changing to a faster #IC, this will not be possible anymore. But #Tatran also has a restaurant car, so hopes are high I'll get something to eat.

Also I love the printed carriage position indicators. Childhood memories...

It's all very scenic, remote but also alive. People get on and off at every station. This rural line clearly serves the needs of local communities.

It's really a #Railbus #Schienenbus. I like the overhead racks. They allow the interior to be perceived as very airy and spacious. You could hold a conference or teach a class in this space.
