The God Arrives Early: Rod Serling and the Endings That Paid Their Bills
The series died the year before I was born, and it hardly mattered, because the reruns never stopped. On summer nights in Nebraska in the early seventies, on the only signal that reached my grandfather's corner of the state, a man in a narrow black suit would step into the frame and speak to me as if the two of us had an appointment. He promised a fifth dimension, called it "the middle ground between light and shadow," and stood aside to let the story convict somebody. As a boy I thought I was watching monsters. The show was running trials. […]#nightgallery — Public Fediverse posts

CW: Night Gallery (1969) Episode "Hatred Unto Death" Spoilers
Night Gallery may be a major letdown as Rod Sterling series compared to The Twilight Zone that can be called uneven at best, but it does end with an absolutely batshit episode about a man and a gorilla being the reincarnation of two gorillas who fought over a lady gorilla a million years ago and now reincarnate throughout the ages to repeatedly kill each other. :ac_laughter:

🦖🪞A Night Gallery episode worthy of serious reflection: The Painted Mirror (1971) with Zsa Zsa Gabor as the tyrannical Mrs Moore; Arthur O’Connell as Frank Standish; and Rosemary DeCamp as Ellen Chase. It’s a great episode - Mrs Moore is chased into a chilling prehistoric alternate reality on the other side of a mirror. And it’s hard to sympathise with her plight… Directed by Gene R Kearney. #nightgallery #thetwilightzone #television

"Night Gallery: The Cemetery"
From 2014. Was rewatching the old pilot episode of NIGHT GALLERY & I loved this shot of Roddy McDowall's character tossing the painting into the fireplace.
The story itself was really solid & haunting. Like an Edgar Allen Poe tale.

👁️ The Girl with the Hungry Eyes (Night Gallery, October 1972) starred James Farentino and Joanna Pettet. A photographer, David Faulkner, is frightened by the ‘hungry eyes’ of his new model - which no man can resist. It’s based on a 1949 short story of the same title by Fritz Leiber, which features in the excellent Rod Serling’s Night Gallery Reader. #nightgallery #thetwilightzone #television #tv #1970s #70s #cult #horrormovies #horror #horrorart #rodserling

Night Gallery episode Death in the Family/The Merciful/Class of '99/Witches' Feast (on the DVD the last of these is replaced by Satisfaction Guaranteed) follows a familiar formula of two substantive stories alternating with light-touch short segments. Night Gallery’s The Return of the Sorcerer (1972) is a tour de force by Vincent Price in a bizarre homage to Roger Corman’s classic Poe movie adaptations. There are also echoes of Hammer horror, in particular The Devil Rides Out. In Whisper (1973), starring Dean Stockwell, a woman - played by Sally Field - is a victim of ‘possession’ by lost souls. #nightgallery

Episode Four, Season One of Night Gallery (1971), a spin-off from The Twilight Zone, offers two tales linked by time-worn words of caution: be careful what you wish for… in Make Me Laugh, a struggling comedian hits the big time - but there’s a steep price to be paid. And in Clean Kills and Other Trophies, a big game hunter bullies his animal-loving son into making his first kill. #nightgallery #thetwilightzone #television #TV #1970s #rodserling #horror

Night Gallery was a spin-off from The Twilight Zone. The House is the story of a patient in a sanitarium who has recurring dreams about a house that mysteriously draws her near. In Certain Shadows on the Wall, an ailing woman dies under the care of her sinister brother but her accusing shadow remains indelibly cast on the parlour wall. The episode featuring these stories was aired in 1970. #nightgallery #twilightzone
