As a boy, I learned to draw the TARDIS from illustrations in the Doctor Who Annuals from the Patrick Troughton era. My TARDISes always had those ‘stabiliser’ blocks on the front and the wrong number of windows on the side. It was only many years later, when I saw the publicity photos of Jackie Lane posing beside the hastily constructed stand-in TARDIS prop, that I realised where those bloomin’ stabilisers had come from. 🙂

Apparently Colin Baker doesn't like The Doctor torturing a Dalek in 'Dalek'.
The whole point was what his post-war trauma had done to him. That's what gave the story so much power and emotion. We heard about the war, but this gives us a bigger picture of the scope of it.
It's like Kirk being racist against Klingons in Star Trek 6. (Shatner didn't like it, either.) But it's not that Kirk was always a natural bigot. He'd undergone a great deal of pain at the hands of them -- they'd killed his son, among other things -- and it affected him. It made him jaded. By the end of the film he's gone through a dangerous, therapeutic journey that causes him to start to confront it, and grow past it.
Same with The Doctor. He's got PTSD left over from this horrible war, and then suddenly finds himself face to stalk with one of the creatures that fueled those horrors.
It's unthinkable that he'd be so vengeful. And that's the point! The Doctor grows by the end, too. It doesn't delete his trauma, but it puts him on the road towards healing.
That's just good storytelling. It's unfortunate Colin doesn't appreciate that.

Even as a kid, some things just looked wrong. Case in point: this TARDIS Commander badge. It was originally merchandise for the 1972 BBC TV Visual Effects exhibition at the Science Museum in London, but they must have had plenty left over, because they were still available to buy at the Doctor Who exhibition in Blackpool a couple of years later.

When I was a kid in the 90s, I remember my dad watching classic Tom Baker episodes of Doctor Who from 20 years prior.
My kids are now watching some of my favorite David Tennent episodes of Doctor Who. I just realized that those episodes are now coming up on being 20 years old.
David Tennent is my Tom Baker.
