I'm happy to have watched it over, in full, all these years later. It reminded me of a different time. Memories flooding back fo the decade prior, growing up as a child in the 80s and a teenager in the 90s.
The explosion of the internet and technology all around me, learning new things rapidly. I started watching #theXFiles when I was 10 and finished it while just starting college.
It was literally part of my formative years, and I'll never forget it.

I finished #TheXFiles.
The last two episodes of Season 9 and the finale of the entire story.
I remember 20 years ago it being rather underwhelming and having mixed feelings.
It's difficult to end a show like this and keep everyone happy. Chris Carter chose to portray hope over defeat. There's some uncertainty, no full resolution, but this is the way. He left a mystery, some unanswered questions remain and that is ok.

I’m in the final stretch of Season 9 of #TheXFiles and I can see how the show had a vibe shift. I see John Doggett in another light now. He’s an example of “competency porn” he has good intentions and is very good at his job at all times.
Monica Reyes deserved more exploration, she seems to have been set aside as a support character for Scully.
I remember seasons 8 and 9 were less popular at the time of airing, but I appreciate them more on this second viewing.

This ⬆️ by the way is a quote from Millennium 2x09 "Jose Chung's Doomsday Defense" from 1997, an episode that's super weird, but also super entertaining. It's a parody on Scientology, doomsday theories, and Millennium itself, and even features an X-Files cameo.
It's probably not everyone's cup of tea, but gets a 9/10 from me.

Season 8 has really been amazing.
Gillian Anderson has the best acting, Scully’s character is the most interesting over the whole show.
It’s a soap opera for nerds and I love it.
In retrospect, I am disappointed I did not see what they were trying to do with these last two seasons.

One time at a backyard show as a teenager I was handed a mic and told to improvise lyrics over a generic punk riff, so I just started yelling about how fuckable both Mulder and Scully are until they stopped because his parents were there.

The X-Files season 8 is way better than I remember. The strong opening of "Within" and “Without," introducing Robert Patrick as Doggett, were phenomenal.
I remember missing Mulder after season 7 and having mixed feelings about season 8 at the time.
I've changed my mind, and this time around, I can clearly see what they were trying to do.
