10-second spoiler-free movie review: "The End of Oak Street" (2026)
A popcorn movie that does what it says on the tin. Ewan McGregor and Anne Hathaway are great, and the rest of the cast is good. Except for one very short scene, it doesn't pretend to be deeper than it actually is, and there's a lot of "characters behaving like real-life" to boot.
Enjoyable.

Watched The Awful Truth. RomCom has a pretty pre-code feel despite technically not violating the Hayes Code. Cary Grant is fantastic, and Dunne feels like a Hepburn clone in parts, but probably they’re all just in the same soup. Lots of small moments that show why they’re both stars.

We Life in Time (2024) is, at its heart, a paint-by-numbers weeper. But it's well done because the actors elevate it. And that's enough for this one to be worth watching again someday. #MovieReview

We watched "The Woman In Black" (2012) as a spooky season movie with the 12yo. Pretty perfect choice. No gore, no blood, no foul language. Just the constant threat of danger, the creepies, some jump scares, and morbid themes.

I was at the New Hampshire Film Festival last weekend for the fifth year in a row. And as usual, I came away having experienced some remarkable films.
