2023 stats for medically assisted death in Canada. The Track 2 (non terminal illness) details are striking.
Loneliness and “not wanting to be a burden” were significant reasons people chose to die.
Anyone with chronic illness can tell you how quickly we’re treated as “burdens”.
We need support to live with autonomy and dignity before we’re offered support to die. Many of us who feel like burdens wouldn’t feel that way if we had proper financial and social supports.
