  1. Repealing Section 230 is a mistake at a time where we just can't afford to make one. The Trump administration is corrupt and vindictive and will use the removal of 230 as a catalyst to bully online communities and platforms, small and large, to cater to their whims.

I have no idea why Sen. Whitehouse cannot see this. That even if you think there are issues with 230, NOW IS NOT THE TIME.

  2. 🥴 Ah, the classic tale of a U.S. lawyer valiantly defending a bastion of internet chaos (4chan) against the UK's valiant attempt to block things with the precision of a drunk darts player. Spoiler alert: IP blocking is about as effective as a sieve in a water balloon fight. 🙃

  9. Taught Zeran vs. AOL today and set a timer on loop to go off every 2 minutes. It was annoying, which was the point!

Context: Zeran vs. AOL was a landmark Section 230 case. Zeran claimed to receive tons of hate calls, due to an anon user’s AOL posts falsely linking Zeran to offensive merchandise, w/call frequency peaking at 1 call every 2 min.

The big Q the court had to decide was whether S230 protected AOL from liability. Spoiler alert: They said yes!

In Nov 2015, 3 rifle-wielding #ISIS gunmen opened fire at a restaurant in Paris, killing 23-y-o Nohemi Gonzalez, a college exchange student. Almost 8 yrs later, her family is seeking justice…, targeting not the gunmen, but the #tech giant #YouTube, in a landmark case that could shift the foundations of #InternetLaw.

Good question. It should be a #lawOfTheInternet to block Amazon.

They should be blocked at the Network level. In fact the same for Cloudflare, Google, Akamai, TwitterBuyer, and Microsoft servers.

Rishi Sunak, UK’s prime minister, has a big Tory rebellion on his hands, re the new internet safety law currently going through parliament.

“ Under the rebels' proposals, senior managers at tech firms could face up to two years in jail if they breach new duties to keep children safe online. The provision would not apply to search engines.

“These duties include taking "proportionate measures" to stop children seeing harmful material, including through measures such as age verification, taking content down, and parental controls.”
