  1. My theory is that a single more powerful unit, while there might be some occasional downtime due to maintenance the significant reduction in complexity & increase in single host performance specs might balance out....

I like the two #intelN100 that I currently have but they feel a bit cheap for #selfhosting #homeprod

I would also consider something else, but I think I have already done too much research 😂

  2. Next I run #syncthing on my laptop, and on my #homelab #intelN100 #n100 mini pc / server that runs in the cupboard and is very #lowpower I run #proxmox and this also has a #samba share which allows any other network devices to see the media.

With syncthing running, I always have two copies of the media, but for backup I was using #rclone to send an encrypted copy to #googledrive - which I am in the process of switching over to #nextcloud running on #hetzner

  3. TL;DR - Heads up, latest 6.13.x kernels seem to cause problems with Intel N100 based boards!

  4. A Look at the Intel N100 Radxa X4 SBC - Recently Radxa released the X4, which is an SBC containing not only an N100 x86_64... - hackaday.com/2024/07/29/a-look #inteln100 #reviews #rp2040 #intel #radxa

  5. This little “firewall appliance” is a mini PC with Intel N100 and 6 x 2 5 GbE LAN ports

A few years ago we wrote about a “Firewall Micro Appliance” that was basically a small, fanless computer that combined a 10-watt Intel Celeron J4125 quad-core processor with six 2.5 GbE LAN ports.
Now it looks like Chinese PC makers have updated the design with new models sporting 6-watt Intel N100 chips and DDR5 memory. The latest […]

  6. Gigabit broadband connections are old hat. Google Fiber says it’s turning the dial up to 20 and rolling out 20 Gigabit fiber internet in select markets by the end of the year. There’s no word on how much it will cost though… or if you’ll be able to afford it after the latest price hikes from streaming companies including Netflix, Disney+ and, most […]

  7. Wondering how a mini PC 6-watt Intel Processor N100 4-core chip based on Alder Lake-N architecture stacks up against a decent single-board PC with a decent ARM chip like the RK3588? Here's an in-depth comparison.

(Short version: Intel wins most single-core tests, but multi-core performance is less clear cut and there are some areas where an RK3588 board comes out ahead... with perhaps its biggest advantage being lower power consumption). bret.dk/intel-n100-a-challenge

  8. Over the past year we’ve seen Chinese PC makers including Topton and AOOSTAR selling a mini PC that’s clearly designed for use as a file storage server. Not only does it have two M.2 2280 slots for solid state storage, but there’s also room for two 3.5 inch hard drives or SSDs.
The first models to ship were powered by AMD Athlon 300U […]

  9. AOOSTAR is planning to release a new version of its mini PC/DIY NAS with support for two 3.5" hard drives. Instead of a Ryzen 5 5500U chip, the new version has a 6-15 watt Intel Processor N100 Alder Lake-N chip. amzn.to/3QdEisP
