So, totaler #Stromausfall hier bei uns. Brand in der Trafostation. #USV hat funktioniert. #Qnap NAS ist sauber heruntergefahren.

Hatte ich schon erwähnt, dass ich #JellyFin in einem #Docker auf meinem #QNAP 251+ installiert habe und damit sehr zufrieden bin?

Welp, I found a but in QuObjects, the S3 interoperability layer app for QNAP NASes. It piggybacks on top of the operating system's certificate, with one glaring omission: It doesn't send the intermediate certificates when identifying itself, so certain TLS libraries will call a foul. The OS itself sends the whole certificate chain just fine.

I updated my #QNAP NAS yesterday. Since my DNS is in a VM on the qnap it's always a bit of a pain (chicken and egg thing). But after installing and afterward upgrading a few of the apps I noticed a major upgrade to version 6 was available. So today I took the plunge and pretty much like a regular update this seems to have worked just like I expected. My shares are accessible, my vm keeps on rolling. Good times. QuTS hero h6.0.0.3500 is now up and running!

QuTS Hero 6.0.x added the ability to configure ciphersuites for ssh, which seems to have revealed a problem in the default ssh client of Windows 11.

ssh -o [email protected] user@host fails on Windows, but succeeds on Nixos 26.05.

Other MAC algorithms like [email protected] and [email protected] work fine.

SSH client version on Windows:

It is finally done! That was the longest week ever as I waited for my RAID to rebuild after a drive needed to be reseated. I wish my cheap ass storage array advertised how long it takes rebuild. Knowing that I was one drive failure away from having to recreate all my home lab services was awful.
For the record, I was seeing between 1 and 7MB/sec on the checksum calculations (is that what the RAID is doing?) on a 4TB drive. So if it averaged 4MB/sec, that's 11.5 days.

It's been some time since I needed to connect my old NAS device with a TTL-232R-3V3 cable to use with a serial terminal. I tried hard to find what order the wires were, but then remembered I had posted to debian-arm myself and found my own photos from 2018! Success! The terminal which is partly shown is indeed coming from the wires.

I'm trying to debug malloc failures that started on March 9th 5am for no apparent reason, after 5 hourly process restart.
