  1. @josch @drscream
    looks more sane now, yes.

Just for the heck of it, the status matrix of mainline support of #rk3588: gitlab.collabora.com/hardware-
Not sure if something similar exists for qcom...

  2. I spotted the #mnt_reform Next laptop on crowdsupply about a week ago and I am really tempted to sign up for one. I love the modular design, the hackability and the georgeous CNC aluminum case. My only real hesitation is that I could get a much faster Framework laptop for the same money. Framework is repairable, but nowhere near as cool as the MNT. Does anybody out there have any experience with the MNT's SOM module, the #RK3588 as a daily driver? I'm a lifelong Ubuntu user. It sounds like Debian is better fit for this SOM, and I don't think I'd mind switching. I do occaisional video editing. Has anybody out there experemented with Kdenlive on Debian (or ubuntu) with the RK3588? Or have an opinion about the MNT laptop?

  3. Rockchip RK3588 camera support is moving further upstream.

Thanks to long-running collaboration across the Open Source community, initial mainline Linux support for the platform’s video capture hardware is now in place, laying the groundwork for the next step: full ISP support. 🎉

  8. I'm very happy to announce that thanks to a donor who wishes to remain anonymous, I have in my hands a FriendlyElec NanoPi M6 - in this configuration, a tiny fanless desktop #microPC based on the Rockchip RK3588S processor.

I've had my eye on this device to fill the role of ultraportable desktop PC, especially in the event my laptop ever breaks or is lost/stolen, which would instantly render me unable to work if I didn't have a backup.

because of this generous gift, I'll be able to put the #NanoPi M6 to the test, and answer my top-of-line question: just how usable is this device as a light-duty desktop PC running Linux right now, in 2026? how well is the hardware supported? will I have problems getting work done?

I'm looking forward to having answers to all that and more. be sure to keep an eye on the Peertube channel @surfhosting.cc in the coming weeks and months ... and thank you so much to my donor, you know who you are!

  9. Seems you @mntmn, @Liberux and @dawndrums are all iterating towards similar #Linux #mobile devices based on the same SoC (#rk3588). Can't wait for them to be available.

  10. So this whole mainline kernel on NanoPC-T6 detour I did most of the week was because I needed the rtw88 wifi driver to be updated so I can debug why the AP+STA mode crashes the whole system when it’s using the iw scan feature #linux #rk3588 #nixos

  11. Found a “nixos-rockchip” repo and got a mainline kernel working for the nanopc-t6

  12. I’m still very much not getting to the bottom of the issue of why mainline Linux kernel, which is meant to support the nanopc-t6 board with the rockchip rk3588 cpu, isn’t booting on the actual device #linux #rk3588

  13. Did nothing but compile Linux kernel all day. I had to increase the tmpfs mount to a larger size so it would stop crashing. Now I just have to figure out why it’s not booting the image #NixOS #linux #rk3588
