I've been using Obsidian for my notes for a while. I just published my first addon! Since I've been writing a novel for a while, I needed a quick and easy world editor in Obsidian. And well... there wasn't one that met my requirements. So I developed one myself and would like to share it with you. It's free, but I'd be happy if you "bought me a coffee". :)

Here is a truly tiny map. The Kingdom of Saunders is in blue. Sometimes, people forget it's a kingdom at all. The scale is 24 miles to the hex. #Hexmap, #DND, #OSE.

You can read more about Saunders on These Old Games. The Kingdom is a part of a larger campaign, featured on my Ko-Fi Page.

Another one of those individual scale / company scale battle maps.

Noteworthy here is the permanent Mist covering the area centred around the huge dead tree - the home of Fallen Nymph (Mist Nymph), who has transformed from a nature spirit into a twisted Mist entity.

Bore da! I see that the Welsh Senedd has got new constituencies for the 2026 elections; 16 in total, each electing 6 Members. So our old Senedd hex cartogram is out-of-date.

I've created a new hex layout at https://open-innovations.org/projects/hexmaps/editor/?../maps/wales-senedd-constituencies-2026.hexjson It's hard to keep a good shape/neighbours with only 16 hexes.

Thanks to an online generator I made a bunch of Vargr names. It wasn’t a great generator, so I made 3x as many as I needed and shortened the best ones.

Generated the basic profiles for all the Dolphin worlds. I knew whichever generated the highest “importance” (combination of starport level, population, tech level, and trade classifications) would be the capital of the Dolphin Khanate, and the Subsector it was part of.

Eventually I need names for the rest of those worlds.

I was amused by the zero population, Class A Asteroid Starport, so I figure it must be their main naval base.

A colleague has created a constituency hex map showing transport stops (bus stops, tram/metro stops, and train stations) using NaPTAN: https://constituencies.open-innovations.org/themes/transport/transport-stops/

The tram/metro visualisation is also pulling out tourist lines e.g. Snowdon mountain railway and Scarborough tramway.

Yesterday, I conducted a little experiment; I tried to see if I could draw a passable #hexmap in 3d. Turns out I could. I'm not done with it though. Next step is adding details such as roads, towns, dungeon entrances, and temples. Eventually, this will be used in an article I'm writing on he mapgeneration as well as the first video on a YouTube channel I'm planning on starting.

I just started playing and enjoying Feudal Tactics, https://github.com/Sesu8642/FeudalTactics. It is very minimal turn based strategy game, where you try to conquer an island with competing kingdoms. It is tricky because you want to build up more warriors to take more land but you have to pay them, so there is a balance. You can build castles too 🏰. I could see it being a fun party game. Cheers to the developer for making it!

Despite its apparent simplicity, #FourAgainstDarkness continues to intrigue me. Now, I'm writing rules I call #FourAgainstTheSandbox which allows for overland #HexMap generation as you explore. I also want to write rules for generating settlements that you can find or build yourself as a management and worker placement minigame. Basically, I want simple rules that allows for the creation of an entire sandbox with landscapes, settlements, and dungeons.
