@YUMDM I'm GMing #Pathfinder on Sunday, and today I intend to solo play #OSE.

I just published a blog entry about the cosmology of my Moon Shadows #dnd #osr #ose #ttrpg setting. Standard D&D settings always had too many planes for me. 17 outer planes? And one of them is actually 666 planes stacked on top of each other? And 16 inner planes? And a bunch of "demiplanes" floating around all willynilly? It's too busy for me, so I stripped it down and there's still a place for everything, so I don't feel like I'm missing anything.

I've been thinking this morning about the cosmology of my Moon Shadows #ttrpg #dnd #ose campaign setting. It's not *too* complicated but also most players will never need to know it. I'm thinking of just breaking it down into sections of varying detail.

If you're a warrior type: Earth, Air, Fire, and Water are all around us. They overlap and mix together to make the world. Heaven is up and Hell is down. Here's your sword. The pointy end goes in the other guy.

I'm really impressed with the level of world building in the holy spells section of the Dolmenwood Player's Book. Normally, my eyes glaze over when it comes to pages and pages of spell descriptions, but at least in this section they delve into the setting's major religion, the Pluritine Church, by associating each spell with a saint, providing an associated legend with that saint, and then a list of the saint's patronage. I wish more games did similar things.

I'm trying to finish writing up and laying out my Sourcerer (aka Source Adept, a sort of psychic monk or jedi that taps a flow of vital energy called the Source) class for my Moon Shadows #osr #ose #dnd setting. In my notes, I gave all the powers bland "behind the screen" names like "psi-push" or "psi-strike" and gave them flowery "secret kung fu technique" names in play. Now I'm blocked on how to officially name them for publication. So, a poll to tip the scales of my writerly indecision...
