I've published my reworked #Hexcrawl rules. They are system-agnostic and should work for any #TTRPG I believe. The rules are point-based rather than time-based.
This one is fairly long, so I've added an overview at the start. Please let me know what you think!

I've published an article called The Prep Pool - How to be Ready for Anything.
It's about having a "pool" of prepared content that you can "plug in" anywhere in your world on the fly, when the players do the unexpected and go outside what you have prepped for that session.
I think this might be one of my most useful articles so far, especially if you're running a #Sandbox or #Hexcrawl campaign.

One of these days I'm going to add a function for my Solo-RPG minor mode for #Emacs which allows me to export my #Lonelog notation session logs as colorized HTML, for including in my articles. But it is not this day! Because right now, I'm instead going to start working on the #HexCrawl support.

I'm very happy with my #SoloRPG mode for #Emacs, which is now available on #MELPA. It started with support for the #Lonelog solo RPG notation format, but has since expanded. I've now added support for #tarot cards and generating NPC personalities and appearances.
Today, I'm going to have a look at adding #Hexcrawl support.

29 keyed hexes of dinosaur-infested jungle in a Lost World adventure set in the Thanegioth Archipelago. Designed for B/X D&D and historically significant as the birthplace of the Known World (Mystara).
A classic that taught DMs how to run wilderness exploration and deliberately left hexes empty for you to make it your own.

The inner gate used to be barred, but the fastener rusted and the goblins haven’t repaired it. It’s heavy enough to take an action to open. If the goblins are alert and manning the murder holes, any character between the two gates takes 1d4 damage from dropped rocks, shivs, and other garbage after their turn. Since my Outlaws of the North map is based on the PNW, I keep renaming cities vaguely inspired by the actual location.
So I have this little fishing village where Aberdeen is. The small town in WA, not its more famous Scottish cousin.
It is where Kurt Cobain was from, so I’m tempted to just call it Nirvana. Is that too obvious? Anyone think of something related but cleverly obscure to use instead?

Playing another session of our nimble game. Started becoming friends with the rat men. They want us to rescue some of their folk who have been taken as slaves by an Ork raid. We’ll see how dangerous it looks. One of their scouts is taking us.
Fought some wolves, exploring further inland than we’ve ever been before. Taking a detour around a marsh.
Liking this game so far.

Esta breve campaña se limita a describirte unos cuantos hexágonos de un mapa y deja los detalles a discreción del director de juego. La campaña huye de descripciones concretas y precisas y más que una carencia es una virtud que recupera una simplicidad y libertad que se estaba perdiendo en el rol moderno. Does anyone know of a #software #tool which can create a blank #hexcrawl map with numbered #hexes and output a #vector #image ?
I would like to be able to specify an arbitrary size (e.g. 21×12 hexes) and get an output like this image, with all hexes numbered in (column,row) format. The output should be a #scalefree image, preferably in #SVG format.
I can do it manually but if a tool already exists I'd like to save myself the effort.
