🎉We did it!
Thanks to the amazing support from the #QGIS community, both the initial €6000 goal and the extended €7000 goal have been achieved.
Native #hydrology tools and the new flow direction & wind barb renderers will land in QGIS 4.4.

Yesterday I've used #QGIS to overlay a campsite's own map, which shows the numbered pitches, over aerial imagery, which shows trees and shrubs and stuff.

Teaching QGIS. I haven't taught in person in a while so I'm a bit rusty. Yesterday I had the Bases "ESRI Guy" in the class. He was mad - he's been told they have to drop some ESRI licenses. At Lunch he was not having a great day. We talked. The research facility has been 100% ESRI and anything ESRI came up with in the proprietary data format they hopped on. Now it's gotta change and my best bit of advice was "stick to data standards - not software standards". #esri #qgis #training

This means that @northroadgeo can implement these tools so you can use them in QGIS 4.4🚀
📢 With 2 weeks left, we’re aiming for an extended goal of €7000 to add native flow direction & wind barb renderers for raster layers. If successful, this will be implemented by @lutraconsulting.

Heard about geoparquet a while ago and today I gave it a try. I discovered that I can create geoparquet files using geopandas.to_parquet() 😎 But I also discovered that gdal from ubuntuGis does not recognize the file type 😢 So I can´t look at the file in Qgis nor do ogrinfo on it.
I'm installing gdal from ubuntugis-unstable. Am I doing something wrong? Or GDAL / Qgis from ubuntuGIS / debianGIS does not support parquet?

That would have been the first crater to be closely examined by #Perseverance, but apparently it wasn't meant to be. Before even the digital ink in which my post was writen was dry, the rover moved once again, and is now past that little crater.

13 years ago I was down in the Caribbean working. Led to my discovery of QGIS. Also led to me learning how business works the hard way. 13 years later the USVI calls. They have a problem and the only way to fix it is PostGIS. I fix it and then ask "why are you calling me" - DOGE Cuts and they are up against a deadline, no money, and no friends because of the no money. Figured it out. Gave them an answer with three lines of SQL code. #QGIS #POSTGIS
