Hardcopy of the 2nd Edition of the book #Geomorphometry - Concepts, Software, Applications has arrived! Happy to have a chapter about #QGIS and #PCRaster in the book and to have contributed to the general software chapter. Great to be in the book with colleagues from #GRASS, #SAGA #Whitebox and others. I do actually have a plan for all those random books I've collected from little free libraries and am adding to my #BookWyrm account at @[email protected] - I want to use them as #ttrpg #worldbuilding inspiration for a custom fantasy world.
But before I can start with that, I need to do some setup work first (and I am _definitely_ not going to do that before I have finally published my current book manuscript - there have been too many distractions already).
My big idea is to a combined wiki/interactive map system like they have at the #Pathfinder wiki. See here for the wiki:
and here for the map:
https://map.pathfinderwiki.com/
Now, I've created wikis before and I have drawn maps before. However, for project this I have to delve into #QGIS , and _that's_ something I need to learn from the beginning. (And I _do_ want a true 3D model for the world, using #GIS information).
Once I have set this up, I use all the books I have to come up with new locations and add them to both the wiki and the map at the same time. But first, I need to learn _how_ to do this and set it up.
So if you know of any good tutorials for QGIS for this purpose - i.e. _not_ using for conveying real world information, but building a fantasy world from the ground up - then feel free to point them my way.

A terrain view (top) and it's labels (bottom). The soundtrack is a noisy laptop whirring away rendering the top view under the bottom labels :D
...not *quite* ready to take the 3D view screenshot and layout/label in inkscape path just yet... almost though.

#QGIS #INTERGEO2026 #Pylone
