  1. In the 2010 General Election, this #Levenshulme #Manchester estate agent shop was the election office for #LibDems candidate Qassim Afzal.

Now it seems to be the election office for #WorkersPartyGB, the ego trip party of all round horrible person George Galloway. Weird how things change over time.

  2. It was so great to meet Hannah Spencer today in Denton and talk about both of our Bye-Election campaigns. Hannah has proved that a message of hope in the face of hate, and positivity can really resonate with people. That doesn’t mean ignoring serious issues or abandoning your values, but bringing solutions instead of just negativity.

  3. Nice little article quoting Nottingham people who contributed to the Green Party win in Gorton & Denton. Some visited and did door-knocking, some did phone calls.

  4. Clearly, the stupid Labour party has learned nothing from the #GortonandDenton by-election and has decided to carry on in the same trajectory, inexorably toward further failure.

  5. RE: hachyderm.io/@katemorley/11616

Note that for the last 6 months, #YouGov has consistently reported lower numbers for the Greens #GPEW than reported by other pollsters.

So the 5-point Green lead over the so-called "#LabourParty" is likely to be an underestimate of the post-#GortonAndDenton Green surge.

On #HannahSpencer victory for #GreenParty in key UK by-election

"Our politics had become too poll-driven, too cautious, and too obsessed with respectability to allow community to break through.

    This by-election shattered that assumption"

  7. @wavesculptor No you didn't read it right.

1/ The apparent hairs breadth split was between Green and Labour, both progressive to some degree.

2/ The Greens have been around for fifty years, but were marginal until recently, and ignored in every one of the 87 by-elections they had contsted. Their highest vote share in any previous by-election was 10.2%. They got four times that in #GortonAndDenton

  8. James Butler's article on #GortonAndDenton in #LRB is astute, especially about the strategic folly of the so-called "#LabourParty". A fine read: lrb.co.uk/blog/2026/february/j / archive.is/xgwDa

But I was very struck by Butler's comments on the divide in #ReformUK. I assume that the billionaire media which fuels Reform will drive the #cultureWar as far as it can go without splitting Reform until Reform has had power to do phase 1 damage. Then they back the ultras.

    Any other thoughts?

  13. Ooh I just found out yet another delightful thing about #GortonAndDenton:

    > in an embarrassing loss for the Conservatives [...] the party’s vote share was so decimated that it lost its deposit for the first time in 40 years, attracting less than 2% of the vote.

  14. "On Thursday morning, when most pundits were still calling the #GortonAndDenton byelection a three-way fight that was impossible to call, the #GreenParty sent a note to journalists. Come to the first press conference of Hannah Spencer MP tomorrow. And while you’re about it, stay on to join her for her first constituency surgery. What could possibly go wrong? As it happens … absolutely nothing."

  15. "We will continue to warn of the risk the Greens pose", says man who lied his way to power. πŸ™„

His party's lies helped them lose the #byelection.

    Quotation from Keir #Starmer's 27 February 2026 letter to MPs, at leftfootforward.org/2026/02/re / archive.is/nKb0B

The so-called "#LabourParty" fought a very dirty campaign in #GortonAndDenton. They lost heavily, but they haven't cleaned up their act.

  16. UK #LabourParty's #triangulation strategy broke in #GortonAndDenton, after 39 years. The idea was to make the left vote for centrist policies as the only viable alternative to the right. But now the Greens have taken that left vote, and won. No Labour seat is safe.

Labour's only hope of survival is to woo the left instead of attacking it. But it's too late.

    The govt is loathed.

Labour MPs were mostly chosen by #McSweeney as anti-left. Most left activists have quit, as #Starmer told them to.

  17. The Labour 'Dirty Tricks' continue AFTER the byelection too, I see.
    How Epstein of them.

They're now implying the Eterna-cunt, George Galloway somehow endorsed the Greens, which if you have the misfortune to know who George is, sounds very unlike George.

Anyway, implying that the Greens are somehow 'Extremist' for just talking to Muslim people is also a very Epstein Class move.

  22. Big Green victory so who does the BBC talk about?

    The Labour Party.

Who does the BBC interview about the election,

    Someone from the Labour Party

No wonder people are switching off the BBC news in record numbers, it's a fucking joke.

  24. So #GreenParty material was also offered in #Urdu. What's the big deal?

If #GortonAndDenton had been a community in rural #Wales, it would make sense to offer material in #English too, for those constituents who don't speak the native tongue.

So again, what's the big deal?
