So of course, the blob squeezed Monica off the ballot. The 2026 Scottish Labour leadership election will be fought between 2 stale, male, pale rightwingers, both loyal to London. 🤮

Bizarre statement by #AnasSarwar! 🙄

It's about his decision to eff to London, to a seat in the unelected #HouseOfLords. He will also be a minister for trade, but as a Minster Of State, he will have no power. The prize here is the Lords seat for life

At the end, he refers to his successor, in a context that can only refer to the party leadership. But he never actually says that he is resigning as leader of #ScottishLabour. Is he still leader?

On Tuesday, the #ScottishParliament elected #JohnSwinney as #FirstMinisterOfScotland.

That's the 5th successive term with an #SNP First Minister.

And it's 23 years since the last election of a #ScottishLabour First Minister: Jack McConnell in 2003.

Labour dominated Scotland for 50 years. When Holyrood was established, Labour was the natural party of government.

Now electing a Labour FM is a fading memory, held by people with greying hair. Labour's colour is turning to sepia.

It's worth pointing out that Angus Robertson did not come second behind Lorna Slater, but third, so if @ScottishGreens had not stood in Edinburgh Central, he might still not have won, and indeed #ScottishLabour might have got it.

@drgeraint this is true. But they won't get an #IndyRef2 that way. The reason I think the SNP *should* bring #ScottishLabour into government is that by throwing a few plums to them in terms of ministerial jobs they could get serious pressure applied to #Westminster to get the referendum agreed.

Mind you, I suspect #Swinney doesn't really want another indyref anyway, and that that is what was behind the stupid 'only SNP votes count' nonsense.

@radiojammor All the more reason to task #ScottishLabour with privatising the buses. Expose their #corruption and hypocrisy.

We all know that #ScottishLabour are much closer to the #SNP on policies than they are to #UKLabour. So would it be a good thing for Scotland if SNP/ScotLab were to agree a coalition deal in which:

1. ScotLab would support the call for #IndyRef2, but would not necessarily campaign for #ScottishIndependence and
2. ScotLab would get the Cabinet Secretary for Transport, with a remit to nationalise Scotland's buses?

#ScottishLabour are committing in their manifesto to:

> Recommit the NHS to delivering single sex wards on the basis of biological sex (page 16) and

> Delivering single-sex spaces on the basis of biological sex, in NHS wards, schools, sport and everyday life (page 52)

This means, essentially, excluding #Trans transgender citizens from hospitals, schools. sports facilities, and other public spaces.
