❓#QuestionOfTheWeek — Do you have Appalachian roots?🌄
▶️ https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Tu-J5US-1VcThe misty hollows and ridge-top farms of Appalachia sheltered families for generations — and their stories are woven into one of America's most distinctive regional cultures. Whether your ancestors came through the Great Wagon Road, settled the Blue Ridge, or farmed the coal country of West Virginia and Kentucky, those mountain connections run deep.
Do you have Appalachian roots? Where from — and any surprising connections you've uncovered?
Share your story and join the conversation on WikiTree's G2G community forum. You might even find cousins you never knew you had! 🌿
Also, be sure to check out the WikiTree Appalachia Project, and join a live chat this Thursday or Saturday for Appalachian Research Get-to-Know parties.

This Mother's Day, think about the mothers in your family — the ones you know, and the ones lost to time. They deserve to be remembered. They deserve to be found.
Your family is part of this story. 💛

❓#QuestionOfTheWeek — Tell us about your mother (or another mother in your family tree)! 🤶
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gn1OxHv_zk4&list=PLEqK4ICkQWXQXODTRG6UGGZ4
This week, WikiTree's G2G community is celebrating Mothers Week by inviting genealogists and family historians to share the stories of the mothers in their trees.
Every family tree is shaped by the women whose names are sometimes the hardest to find in the historical record. This is a chance to honor them — and to connect with a global community of researchers who understand just how meaningful that work is.
https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/2029348WikiTree is a free, collaborative family tree platform that has been growing for 16 years. Join the conversation and be part of something that will last for generations.

❓#QuestionOfTheWeek — Do you have twins, or other sets of multiples, in your family tree?
Twins in the family tree are both a delight and a puzzle for genealogists! From identical ancestors who stumped the census taker to triplets who all emigrated to different countries — multiples make for some of the most fascinating family stories. 👯♀️👯♂️
Do you have a twin story hiding in your family history? Maybe a set of twins who lived to remarkable ages, or multiples separated by circumstance? We'd love to hear about them!
Join the conversation in the WikiTree G2G community forum — where genealogists help genealogists for free, forever. 🌳

🧩 This Week's #ConnectionCheckers is Egg-cellent! 🥚
WikiTree's weekly Connection Checkers game is a unique exercise in collaborative genealogy — and this week's theme is perfectly timed for Easter! Participants explore their place on the WikiTree Big Tree by finding and verifying their connections to a curated set of notable profiles, this week featuring Gregg Allman, Peggy Lee, King Ecgberht, and nine others with egg-inspired names.
It's more than a game — it's a community-driven effort to verify and strengthen the connections in one of the world's largest collaborative family trees. Three standout contributors earn a spot in the Connection Checkers Hall of Fame each week, recognized for shortest path, longest path, and most verified steps — including helping fellow players.
New to WikiTree or Connection Checkers? You're welcome to jump in at any level. Post a connection you'd like to explore, and the community will support you from there.
Game runs through April 7. 🌳🧬

Sitting in a hospital room waiting for my spouse to come back from scans and tests, distracting myself by attaching records to profiles in the Family Search Family Tree, and filling out dates and places in their preferred format ...
Pretty sure that location is NOT Connecticult.
Or IS the devil in the details?

(2/2) Lo and behold, we checked the family tree and Maud and Jennie were my great-grandfather’s first cousins! 🧡
Well, we had to visit their grave in Bridgwater and were able to go the other day. There we were, me, Mum and the kids, three generations paying our respects to these hard-working, independent women.
To read their story, check out On This Day in Somerset!

A circle for each person, double lines between circles to show marriage, and vertical lines branching as needed for children.
This diagram is wonky, and interesting in that it incorporates type. Hey, it’s from 1811.
In #GIMP3 i used value propagate (amount approx. sqrt(2) darker) to prevent the lines from vanishing when scaling down.

Do #MAGA cult members who claim to care about ‘family’ and ‘tradition’ understand that on their own family tree (most likely being managed by a #normie and will be handed down for generations eventually becoming publicly available) probably has the “MAGA” label on their profile? 🤔
I know #German families who still pass on to younger generations who on their #FamilyTree was a #Nazi over 80 years ago!
