Great Uncle or Aunt? No .. IMHO, it's Grand, not Great! :-)

Here's my logic ..

Your grandfather's brother is your granduncle, and your great-grandfather's brother is your great-granduncle. If you think about it like that, it makes perfect sense, no? I know a lot of people use "great uncle" .. but that just doesn't scale, would you use great-great uncle?

Taking it the other way around, your brother's grandson, is your grandnephew (not greatnephew).

I received mail from my great-great-grandfather! The other day I found three postcards online where my great-great-grandfather Jerome Dreissen's fish business orders eels from a Danish fish exporter. An accidental but delightful genealogical discovery.
