A stream winds through fields on the Holnicote estate, #Somerset. The rewilding projects help “store water during drought… and slow water during extreme rainfall“.
“Nature is providing solutions to some of the biggest challenges facing society today,” said Ben Eardley, the project manager at the Holnicote estate.
“By reconnecting river systems with the surrounding area and creating natural sponges in the landscape, we’ve created a system that stores water during drought, keeping wetlands and the surrounding habitats healthy, and slows water during storms and periods of extreme rainfall, helping to protect villages from the risk of flooding downstream.”

Blanche Gibbs used this room as a private sitting room, where she could entertain female friends and family William and Blanche married in 1839. Willam was 49 and Blanche 21. The couple had seven children together.
Blanche was musical and well-read. She played the harp and once wrote that 'a room without books is always dull and insipid.'

#OnThisDay in 1895, Adela Breton and Pablo Solorio arrived in Liverpool having caught a boat from Canada. They were heading to Adela's home in Bath to study and catologue pre-Columbian Mexican artefacts.
