We are again at the time of the #CrossQuarterDay this one between Summer Solstice and Autumn Equinox. In the ancient calendars this time marked harvest and the first hints of the autumn season. I think the actual date is tomorrow, deciding on an observance- an altar or a bushwalk? both? we'll see what energy and inspiration dictate!

This will be one of our very first (non-woody) wildflowers (someone else beat them those pics to come!)- nothing open yet 3 days ago, there could be by now, I'll check again soon... I love the early leaves anyway- Caltha like many plants has extra red/purple pigments in the emerging leaves- this may help them withstand the inevitable cold nights or even days after emergence!

The days since have been mild, but shadows long, shade and breezes chilly, temperature dropping rapidly as soon as the sun is below the trees or behind clouds so the winter season is definitely at hand, even if it is yet to get deeply cold (we've had nights probably had -10/-12C 14-10F)

#Spring is a time for a lot of traditional + #pagan celebrations.
