#YouTube #consultants, like Paddy Galloway, are in high demand as #creators seek to optimise their channels for success. Galloway, who has worked with MrBeast and other top creators, provides insights on #videoperformance, often focussing on #headlines and #thumbnails. https://www.cnbc.com/2026/05/10/youtube-advisors-mrbeast-top-creators-platform-viewership.html?eicker.news #tech #media #news

The Register: PwC will say goodbye to staff who aren’t convinced about AI. “You’ll use AI and like it too – if you work for PwC. Paul Griggs, US chief executive of the global professional services giant, has made clear there is no room at the corporation for AI skeptics.”

These words are not mine, but they do a good job at expressing my fears for the future of our #TertiarySector
“The university sector’s continued high spending on consultants and the uncertainty staff face may well be contributing to a crisis in higher education staff mental health.
Adelaide University’s own Professor Maureen Dollard published results of a university sector survey last week indicating what many have been saying for the past few years: psychological safety in Australia’s higher education sector is in very poor shape.
Universities are alike in high spending on consultants and alike in poor psychological safety for staff. The low state of staff morale at UTS and ANU in particular has received plenty of coverage in the press. What Professor Dollard’s work shows in this new study is how this phenomenon is present throughout the higher education sector.
It is past time for a re-evaluation of how universities engage with consultants and how they can be better employers and better providers of the education students need.”

https://thepoint.com.au/news/260219-was-the-adelaide-university-merger-really-worth-185-million-in-consultantsThe truly frightening revelations is the cost of Consultancies — in this case AU (Adelaide University) merger costs:
“The contract, which ran from September 2023 to 5 January 2026, was worth around $399,000 per day, or equivalent to the annual salaries of a professor and a senior lecturer combined. Put another way, the consulting contract was the equivalent to the salary of 420 professors and 420 senior lecturers for a year.
Was the level of complexity of the merger enough to justify spending the same amount as it would on the annual labour of 840 highly educated academics?”
Truly gobsmacked by this one… meanwhile, the cost of an Arts Degree (BA) is daunting for all who enrol for one — thanks to the Morrison (#ScottyFromMarketing) Jobs ready Graduate scheme.

"The target of the administration’s campaign is a stratum of society that’s sometimes called the #ProfessionalManagerialClass, or the #PMC, although there’s not one universal moniker that #MAGA applies to the group it is now crushing. That group includes society’s knowledge workers, its cognitive elite, the winners of the tournament that is the American meritocracy. It covers not only #lawyers, university administrators, and #professors, but also #consultants, investment #bankers, #scientists, #journalists, and other white-collar workers who have prospered in the information age.
Back in the 1990s, as the group began to emerge in its current form, the liberal economics commentator Robert Reich hailed its members as “symbolic analysts”—people who identify and solve problems by thinking through ideas rather than via physical labor. A decade later, the urbanist Richard Florida put forth an even more triumphalist term: the “#creativeclass.” That is, its members had the academic training to master the complexities of a globalized economy, the intellectual skills to conquer the digital world."

Got my residente temporal card, got my RFC, got a bank acct, seeing some rentals in a few days. SO glad I worked with an #immigration consultancy. Smoothed a lot of things over. Yeah, I could have done this stuff on my own, but it would have taken a lot more time and stress. (Look for #consultants or #agencies or #facilitators rather than immigration "lawyers" - you don't need to pay legal-expertise fees, but you want someone who's fluent in the target language and knows all the bureaucratic ins and outs.) #EXOImmigration

Hmmm... so only a couple of weeks after (Hartman) #SteveBarclay was replaced as #Health Secretary, #VictoriaAtkins has helped broker a deal that the BMA will put to #consultants, to end their ongoing series of #strikes.
It seems pretty clear that Barclay was the problem with reaching a resolution, which also reinforces the notion that the #NHScrisis has been engineered by the #Tories, and is now being ended as they see mileage in ending the deadlock.... game playing with people's health!

Following the current #JuniorDoctors strike (yes, I know JDs are misnamed, they're a lot more mature than 'juniors' & have more responsibility), the #Consultants strike last next week will make it a pretty full spectrum of #NHS staff taking strike action....
What is there not to understand?
The #healthservice needs proper funding, well-paid/happy staff (with reasonable conditions) and an an end to the endless budgetary attrition from the #tories.

More on the 'outdoor relief' for the #professionalservices class... after earlier this week the Govt. dropped limitations on budget allocations to #consultants (not the medical sort), it now emerges that the #NHS spent over £80m on #managementconsultants last year - there's no money for a wage rise for #nurses, but there's plenty to fund the big firms offering 'advice' on how to deal with the #NHScrisis (in itself a crisis brought about by defunding!)

More 'outdoor relief' for the professional classes, as the UK Govt. abandons limits on budget allocations to #consultants... so while budgets cannot afford #inflation matching pay for #keyworkers, the heavily padded expenses of outsourced 'experts' are just fine
Its a a bit like advertising; we might easily conclude that half of all money spent on consultants is wasted, but the problem is we don't know which half... but now is not the time to be relaxed about such wastage!
