Oh tmh kommt jetzt auch dieses Jahr mit einer Wallbox auf den Markt. Was mich doch sehr überrascht ist , das es eine DC Wallbox ist. Mit #renault gibt es bereits ein Projekt, welches allerdings auf AC Boxen setzt. Bin gespannt wie sich das preislich entwickelt. 2000 Euro werden bei #bmw verlangt. Das findet ich nicht besonders attraktiv. #EAuto #Energiewende #bidi

@wyatt @hatzka If I had to guess, these fundamental changes have happened since the XFree86 era:

1. Internationalization: Personal computer use has expanded out of the Americas and western Europe. Asia in particular brings a need for large glyph sets, contextual glyph shaping, diacritic stacking, bidirectional writing, top-to-bottom writing, and antialiasing to make small curves easier to distinguish. How well does X11's font paradigm handle these, as opposed to relying on "modern" toolkits to shove bitmaps around?

2. High density: People expect things to appear the same size on more than one display connected to one computer even if one has more pixels per millimeter than the other.

3. Privacy: Computer networks have become much less trusted over the past few decades. There was demand to deter publishers of proprietary applications from surreptitiously activating a keylogger or screen logger to exfiltrate your data in other applications.

It's so hard for me to understand what #mozilla is doing.

Its like they don't care about technology or users that much at this point and the higherups are looking for a cash grab.

That horrible decision in the terms of usage and license agreement and the fact that #thunderbird doesn't support RTL languages (Persian, Arabic, Hebrew etc.) And the whole RTL user base of firefox are depending on the bidi-mail-ui extension, which the maintainer says is so hacky because mozilla doesn't document and communicate changes, is INSANE.

It's 2025, and mozilla is totally disregarding ~15% of the world that use RTL writing.

Issues, discissions and requests for native BiDi support have been said for years. BiDi support is a basic ability.

#Racket's GUI is perfect for the interactive Talmud Torah I want to create, except that it doesn't support Bidirectional / #RTL text! Everyone says #bidi is extremely hard but reading the #Unicode UBA* it doesn't seem that crazy — I assume the major difficulties arise when adding bidirectional support to legacy systems. Can anyone with experience in either racket/gui or addng bidi support to a GUI offer some insight into how much work I might expect if I give it a shot?
