#WordWeavers 7. If you could live the life of one of your characters, which one?
That is a scary thought. I put them through so much. I do believe in happy endings, but they must all be scarred by the events they go through.
Arisu would be the best. She forgets her awful past. And the events of that book are milder than my later books. Still, she isn't a happy person. I think by the end of the book, she has made as much peace with her past as I have with mine.

Whatever I am feeling like at the time I start.
For technical reasons, narrative characters need to be articulate, introspective individuals. So I guess you could say they come from the technical needs of the story I am writing.
Arisu, Kao, Kan-chan, Shiomi and Shiro are into D&S because I am.
Ume, Shiomi, and Tomo smoke because I have a smoking fetish.
Kao, Arisu, Ume, and Shiro are all interested in music (Whichever genre I am into when I start.)
Arisu, Kao, and Ume are involved with Occult Spiritual Animism because I am.

Arisu: You. Don't ask me how. It's just one of those things I seem to know. I was obsessed with you. Couldn't you tell when we finally met?
Saeki: Indeed.

I got good at hiding my interest though. I had a little fort amid some old sakura trees where I could play house and pretend I was a princess.
