#africanwilddog — Public Fediverse posts

Happy October everyone!
I have a lot of bases lying around and with OCtransfur having started, I've decided to put that lineart to good use. Let's show off Ru as some other species!

First up: The African wild dog!
Base is by https://www.furaffinity.net/user/SCPkid

I would like to start this post by thanking the good folks at Toymany for generously supplying me with a review set to review for the blog. It is a new relationship with them and I’m very excited to partner with them.

Carnivorous mammals are certainly a major part of my collection and interests, and I am thrilled to introduce this unique set of 12 species. All of the included species exist […]

Paint is painting a very nice painting! This was IDDo's contribution that I get from most artists I stream with at https://www.twitch.tv/ra_zim

Tried out a pencil brush

Also trying out some slight design changes for him

AWDs I drew for Dogust

Feral Marcus!
Will turn him into a sticker

here's a version with all the other edits applied (tonemapping, denoising, sharpening, noise green decasting and demagentifying, local contrast, saturation, etc), using only tweaks in the "white balance" module, without the "color calibration" module entirely.

interestingly, i had to bump exposure +0.1 EV in order to match the brightness of the other edits

#photography #darktable #color #awd #africanwilddog #snuggle #tierpark #berlin

so i just learned why some of my photos have been coming out kinda weird, and it's partly my own doing.

look at the original edit in the post above, and look at this new version below. see how i've removed the piss tint?

well. here's what i didn't understand, and now do.

Or rather, an ace pride themed icon from @meg. I let her pick the theme from a small list, and she chose bees.

Forgot to post this version, the grey shading makes it more obvious that his belt is white, completing the Ace flag look, black, grey, white and purple, with an aegosexual flagged tucked into his hat band to clarify what part of the ace spectrum he's on.

Drawn by the great @meg

Finally a new ref for Zetova. Unlike Elaine (from last week), he got quite an overhaul on his design, mostly with the markings. Again the info and art on the old ref were outdated (12 years). This ref took forever and I still might have to do a separate equipment ref for him, because I couldn't fit it all on here.

Icon of Zetova! I'd been looking forward to this icon the most, because I had a clear vision of what I wanted to do for this one before I started. And...I very much enjoy drawing this character...for reasons.

I take commissions for icons like this, if anyone is interested, please DM me!

These animals are an endangered species of wild dog from sub-Saharan Africa. They may look more like hyenas, but they're more closely related to jackals and wolves! their threats are in a link here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African_wild_dog#Threats

@KateShaw has made a great new episode about the African wild dog, also known as the painted dog or the painted wolf. Next follows the aardwolf ... dog-like, but actually a hyena. Finally, the Ethiopian wolf, which ends with a neat surprise.
