I just realised I forgot to post my last artfight attack for 5thCloud of their character Select! Since they were a simple shaped character and there wasn't really much to the modelling, I decided to do a small animation and I'm really happy with how they turned out.

i fr enjoyed this one cuz the colour combo is one of my most favoured plus spinosaurus and alike dinos are just cool. used RGBA Wet and defaulr brushes and applied heavily over and over again in small sizes, to make the paint look kinda thick and with no huge brushstrokes - to make it look like made with wee brushes. still experimenting with digital oil paints, aye.

(UPD: it got weirdly shrank so some parts are blurry and some arent wtfffff......) (UPD2: hmmm when i click on it it looks better but still.....)thanks GIMP has the perfect animation engine for my case, i freaking cant do all those animations techniques presented in Krita, am old and i do every frame as a separated file, my first old animations i did on paper, like am this ancient.....

second time working with oil paints (even tho in digital, that's a new medium to me anyways, am a pastel/chalk/charcoal artist) and i tried to make it somewhat picturesque. horses are extremely hard to draw and even tho i tried to fix it, anatomy still looks kinda wonky imo, i guess i need to watch more videos about how their skeletons and muscles work… i’ve a wonderful course by Aaron Blaise somewhere, bought it a few years ago and still didnt watch, yikes. the sketch is creepy, i’ll attach it below xD
took me ~2-3 houts cuz i kinda got inspired ig, usually i spend a lot more and overrender everything, which is my curse and i must learn to do simple works. here i forced myself into working on A5 canvas and tried to not overrender (tho failed this one prolly, dunno am render-blind recently 🥲 ).

this was an experiment of combining chalk and oil brushes. honestly it went not as planned and though it has a whole load of rendering - 'tis too huge to be a presented on the web. like, 'tis ~6440x1900px, i cant rescale it without losing the quality and details (aka rendered feathers etc). which is unfortunate and i should start using smaller canvases. anyways, i uploaded the original full file to MEGA ( https://mega.nz/file/UicxnIbB#3WnIMYX7LPnKXl5_HLd5Uz7H7d2Cwu6QHzk9Y8QMygY ) so you're welcome to download and zoom it in, as I had to shrink it for the web and now it looks awful. am kinda sad cuz 'tis not even useful for portfolio cuz of this resolution and as 'twas a free work during the art fight event 'tis practically not useful at all (aka i did not even get paid or cant use it for my own profile pics as the character isnt mine etc). dunno who would ever need to see it in my portfolio, who needs all these overrendered details that are visible only when zoomed in on PC. like, 'tis not even a masterpiece (the pose is too static imo, i see lots of imperfections, average work in general) to do so.
i will attach some close-up screenshots ig, the one with the bird is my fave part. the bird was the least rendered and yet i love it the most here.

and some WIPs for art fight as well. am fr behind my schedule but am in generally very slow with art cuz i overdetail, redraw and overrende everything... fr hope am gonna finish it all in time (i've more WIPs but those are on my Tab...). am trying RGBA brushes for the first time also which is a crazy but fun thing as i never used oil paints (even when was a traditional artist).

another artwork for artfight. i got like really inspired by this character’s lore (he’s a spirit guiding migrating birds and his markings resemble wheat and birds). third time drawing a horse so was anxious xD (birds not so first time, i draw them frequently, but a flying bird caused some troubles). it seemed kinda fitting to picture him as in some kind of children book illustration. his lore felt slightly like The Witcher stuff, but on the bright side. at first i was worried that the background (the sky exactly) isnt blending with the character very well, but then I do like how it looks like plus i always tried to make backgrounds less or more grainy to distinguish them from the main object in the scene when i was using soft pastels on paper, so i left it this way - the way i felt was right lol.
brushes used: default Krita’s chalk details (painting), Ramon Miranda’s Charcoal Pencil Detail (initial sketch), some other various charcoal brushes by Ramon Miranda (background). time dunno, prolly ~6 hours in total cuz i tend to fix and repaint things plus am never satisfied with my backgrounds lol.
tbh was happy to draw a unicorn. i cant have my own unicorn character cuz 'tis triggering for personal and political reasons (am Scottish, in short) so drawing even a horse-like unicorn (technically, unicorns are goats!) with such an interesting lore was a very pleasant experience.

ok so, i had to draw her. the name (Magpie), the colours... damn beautiful! first time drawing a WoF dragon, i looked up official concepts n read about hybrids, i like really hope the character's owner wont scold me for any mistakes if i made them... Magpie's a rainwing/nightwing hybrid.
well, this piece was another experiment. of a few ideas: scattered light but more cartoony/simplified than realistic, no overrendering ('tis my worst trait, i redraw n overrender n it drains my resources n doesnt always look good even!), keeping it all simple n almost flat but with some of that scattered light. plus bonus for using only one brush (ok i used one smudging brush in a few shadows a wee bit which is almost cheating for me...); also i always wanted to draw sun peeking from the treetops lol.
for now am looking at it and screming inside that i should've rendered it either into extreme realism or at least not left the scattered lights (WHICH ARE THE SECOND POINT OF MY PERSONAL CHALLENGE). so, fighting my own brain again, yay 🥲

I found the glow and post-processing effects on Nomad sculpt and actually got them looking nice, so now I plan to make it everyone else's problem lol
My 4th artfight attack, revenge on WysteriaNight of their character Prince Cyrus. I think this might be my favourite attack I've done so far, if nothing else because I finally worked out a way to do those big plated scales a lot of dragons have.
