  1. @lauramh @templetongate @bookstodon I had not heard of Draft2digital; that looks like a pretty good service. Vellum does make some very pretty books.
But as an old geek I don't like the code it produces. I have only one eye I can read with, and it is none too good, so I edit nearly every ebook I read to make the code dead simple so I can expand it a LOT and still read it. Vellum and other tools make that tough. #Ebooks could be more #accessable, but many are not...

Here are a few easy ways that I've experienced (and enjoyed) myself:

    - Translate using the platform (this morning I translated for !).

What other and methods have you used?

Here are a few easy ways that I've experienced (and enjoyed) myself:

    - Improve #openstreetmap data either via their website's editor or an app such as #streetcomplete.
    - Translate #foss using the platform #crowdin (this morning I translated for #pixelfed!).

What other #easy and #accessable methods have you used?

  11. I challenge anyone who's fedi experience is improved because of image, GIF, video, or audio captions to take the time to personally thank at least 3 different people each week for describing their media!
Should it be expected at this point? Yes in most cases I think so. But reminding people that taking the time to do it is making a tangible positive impact, and causing others to see the social benefits at the same time is a great way to encourage people to do it more.
If you can't find many examples on your personal feed, just use the media only filter on your local and federated timelines; they shouldn't be too hard to find after that!

  16. @weirdwriter I also find this article and it's comments to be quite interesting. I don't understand allot of this so analyzing for author bias is hard for me, but finding any good info on #accessiBe is hard, so I'll take what I can get.
But I agree, this company is a problem, and in general automated access fixers and overlays are a bad idea.

  18. Hey digital #accessibility testers, I'm thinking about going into the field and I'd like to interview some of you before hand, both out of my own curiosity and also to fulfil the requirements of my state's vocational rehab agency.
So if you can speak decent English and don't mind doing an approx 45 minute audio only non compensated interview at the time of your choosing and with no recording or personal details unless you allow it, then please do let me know! I'd love to hear from you.

  20. What do you guys think, are comprehensive #AccessibilityToolkit solutions that continuously scan and fix #A11Y errors like #AccessiBE, Access Alchemy, and Make-Sense, the way of the future [despite the often sub par results] simply because of the cost savings and ease of use?
    accessibe.com
    levelaccess.com/solutions/soft
    mk-sense.com
Or do you think that human #accessibility testers are still going to be important to the future of #webdev in a decade.
Are the potential benefits of fast fixes and consistent monitoring promising enough for end users to be worth giving them space to grow even if they aren't great right now?
