Aira at the 2025 NYC Blind Travel Foundation Media Weekend!
Aira is proud to sponsor the 2025 Blind Travel Foundation, providing visual interpreting minutes for grant winners' travel projects. We joined grant winners, co-sponsors (Two Blind Brothers & Feeldom), and the BTF team for a weekend of connection and exploration.
A highlight was a tactile tour of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, enhanced by Aira's geofencing for free visual interpreting and AI. The tour brought exhibits to life through visuals, textures, and an amazing guide.
We're excited for our third year partnering with this impactful organization and eager to follow upcoming projects, including an accessible outdoor guide, a blind music education podcast, and a video series on blind history. Learn more: https://www.blindtravel.org/

I’m primarily active on my Mastodon account, but I’ve been curious about Calckey, so plan to use this account to get a better feel for it.
Here’s my #introduction / #introductions post:
Hi! I’m Michael, but can frequently be found online as “djwudi”.
Grew up in #Alaska, now exist just south of #Seattle most of the time.
Currently work in #HigherEducation #accessibility as the #AccessibleTechnology Program Manager at Highline College.
I’m a #ScienceFiction / #SciFi fan. #StarTrek is my home fandom, and I volunteer for @[email protected], a local regional fan-run con.
I read a lot of SF #books. Trek novels are my go-to “comfort food”. I’m slowly working my way through all the #HugoAward Best Novel winners, and every year read all of the nominees for the #PhilipKDickAward before the annual award ceremony at Norwescon.
Speaking of the #PhilipKDickAwards and #Norwescon, starting this year, I am the PKD Award liaison for Norwescon. This means I’ll be overseeing the award ceremony and working with nominated authors and their agents as we invite them to attend the ceremony.
I’m one of the many Seattleites who “used to be a #DJ”. For me, it was about a decade in #Anchorage in the late ‘90s/early ‘00s, primarily at The Lost Abbey and Gig’s Music Theatre. Focused on alternative genres: goth/industrial/synth pop/ebm/techno/etc.
Though recently on the pandemic-induced fringes, I try to be part of the #SeaGoth (Seattle #goth / #gothic) community whenever possible. Used to hang out at The Vogue (on 12th), and am currently looking forward to getting back to the Mercury…eventually.
#Apple #macOS / #iOS user by choice, Windows user if paid.
Oh, and: 50, white, cis, male, statistically straight, healthy, white-collar employed, not rich but comfortably not poor, married, homeowner, neurotypical (as far as I know). In other words, living with a lot of #privilege that I try to be aware of and use for good.
