  1. @scottslowe AFAIK MacOS does support NFS as well as SMB/CIFS. This said for sharing a couple of files from time to time I tend to use #localsend

  2. @scottslowe For single file sharing now and then: localsend.org/ - works on Linux, Android, iOS, Windows, Mac.
For real folder sharing and syncing - .

  3. Once I get the hang of using @zed the next step is to switch all my personal projects to use Devcontainers. You can bank on the fact I'll be pestering @usrbinkat with all my questions during that process. LOL!

  4. I'm really trying to get the hang of using @zed (switching from Sublime Text). I like the speed, but you can tell there are some rough edges here and there.

  5. @jorge Maybe I’m old-fashioned, but the day removes the shell is the day I’ll switch to a different OS. One of the variants, perhaps.

  6. OK, I have a potentially dumb question: if my home directory is on a BTRFS subvolume, how hard would it be to switch to a different OS/distribution while preserving the data/files in my home directory? Seems like it shouldn’t be terribly hard, but I’ve never done it before.

  7. The list of people I can trust to NOT throw me under the bus grows shorter more often than I'd like.

  8. Updating my systems is usually pretty quick, but on the one system where I have an GPU and have CUDA installed the process takes notably longer (primarily because the download sizes are so much larger).

  9. I’ve been mulling over the idea of switching to an immutable/container-based like Bluefin (or similar). However, I really enjoy and the breadth of up-to-date CLI tools available to me. Maybe I could use to run an Arch-based terminal for day-to-day usage?

  10. Day 7 of my spring was focused on yardwork and getting the misters hooked up in the greenhouse. Tomorrow we transition to spring as we head into the mountains for some alone time.

  11. Only minor projects for day 6 of my spring : pressure wash back porch, front porch, and front walkway (see the in-progress photo), clean up in the garage, spray for pests, and do some mowing.

  12. Day 5 of the spring was Easter, so no real work was done. We spent time with family, colored eggs, and had an Easter egg hunt. Good times.

  13. Another slower day on day 4 of the spring : finished up the gate work, finished up the caulking in the greenhouse, & covered the outdoor plants in mesh to protect against the wildlife. Later tonight it’s time to upgrade the RAM in the PC!

  14. Day 3 of the spring was a bit slower. We caulked the panels of the greenhouse, and spent some time beefing up the gate infrastructure.

  15. Day 2 of my spring : planted lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, & radish in one garden bed; planted strawberries in another garden bed; put the raised planter boxes in the greenhouse & transplanted things into them (tomatoes, peppers, broccoli, & brussel sprouts); and installed Arch Linux onto the new PC.

  16. Day 1 of my spring : helped mow the lawn, trimmed the weeds, finished cleaning up from staining the back porch, hauled off the recycling, and built my new PC (haven’t yet had time to fire it up).

  20. @dennisfaucher This will sound odd, but in my normal day-to-day setup I use *both* the vertical mouse and an Magic Trackpad (mouse with the right hand, trackpad with the left hand).

Today is unusual because I’m not in my home office; I’m being a bit of a digital nomad this morning. :-)

  21. After having used a vertical (ergonomic) mouse for a while, going back to an Magic Mouse is downright uncomfortable.

  22. @db_geek was definitely related. I stopped it with `akonadictl stop`, then launched , and now it *seems* OK. Font rendering is super weird in KMail, though.
