  1. OK, I have a potentially dumb question: if my home directory is on a BTRFS subvolume, how hard would it be to switch to a different OS/distribution while preserving the data/files in my home directory? Seems like it shouldn’t be terribly hard, but I’ve never done it before.

  2. The list of people I can trust to NOT throw me under the bus grows shorter more often than I'd like.

  3. Updating my systems is usually pretty quick, but on the one system where I have an GPU and have CUDA installed the process takes notably longer (primarily because the download sizes are so much larger).

  4. yea I'm still kinda puzzled by this. #Wireguard on #PiVPN works fine on my iPhone 100% of the time but not on my MacBook, even after creating a new config for it. I don't think it's a config issue in the first place either since it's worked fine while also having problems before - on my Mac. A "handshake" issue of some sort according to the logs.

Ran the debug check on the PiVPN server and it shows that everything should be okay which is what I expect since it works reliably on all my other devices but the Mac. Seen some similar reports for
#macOS Ventura though and them suggesting to install and use Wireguard from the terminal instead of the GUI app.

  6. @ScottSewell In all versions, I hate the presumption that we’ve agreed to anything. It’s like the boilerplate legalese at the bottom of a corporate email: you sending me an email doesn’t obligate me to do or not do anything, and my opening and reading it isn’t binding. Same with #ColdEmail marketing: the sender isn’t entitled to a response, much less an opportunity to pitch us in real time, just because they were able to beg, buy, or steal somebody’s email address.
