Hey #believeinfilm friends,
I compared all the ISO 800 colour-negative films still in production!
https://www.analog.cafe/r/comparing-all-8-iso-800-colour-negative-films-bgr6
Tested 8 brands, inc. disposable cameras, across 58 exposures (normal, -2, +2) under daylight and tungsten lighting, with colour card and exposure matching. This may be the most accurate film comparison you'll see anywhere 😅
Believe it or not, I found some differences worth considering when picking your film brand (even though it is all made by Kodak).

Polaroid is about to release a brand new Reclaimed-series film. Someone had already shared their results, and I have to say I really like them:

Hey #believeinfilm friends,
In today's guide, John Jones explains the F-Stop darkroom printing workflow:
https://www.analog.cafe/r/f-stop-printing-the-complete-darkroom-workflow-aujf
Unlike timed intervals, the F-Stop method relies on the same math we use on our cameras and offers a much easier way to see the best option in your test strips.
John also talks about dodging and burning via F-Stop and a few tools (including his own) for making the math easier.

Hey #believeinfilm friends,
I just bought a few rolls of the new Harman Switch Azure and compared it directly to Lomochrome Turquoise:
https://www.analog.cafe/r/harman-switch-azure-vs-lomochrome-turquoise-i0vp
Despite doing roughly the same thing, these films look wildly different — one is much crazier than the other.
This comparison tests those emulsions with various exposure settings in "normal" and modified (bluescaled) shooting configurations.
Can you tell which is which?

Hey #believeInFilm friends,
Every last Tuesday of every month I send my curated compilation of #filmPhotography news and announcements. This month, I'm sending it early as there are some time-sensitive projects you may like to know about now.
This month's Community Letter talks about #Pentax, #Rollei, #Polaroid, #MiNT, #DPReview, Chroma, #VALOI, and Instant Box Camera:
https://www.analog.cafe/r/film-photography-news-march-2023-recap-rx7g
...and it features my artsy "reading booth," on Polaroid Duochrome film as a cover. 😁

Hey #believeinfilm friends,
I reviewed a digicam. It's not the same as film, of course, but this one in particular caught my eye for its ridiculous design, waterproof/shockproof qualities and a very special way its lens and sensor distort the image:

@analog_cafe Instant: #polaroid600 films ; 35mm: #fomapan400 & agfa apx 100/400 for 'daily use'. And #KodakGold200 (in Rodinal!) or Rollei #retro80s for more experimental things... 😉 -
@analog_cafe I can't be the only one using #PyrocatHDC !!! Crazy!

Hey #believeinfilm friends,
Last year, Polaroid updated its B&W 600 chemistry to offer an "improved contrast."
Last month, I spent several packs of the new and the old frames, comparing them in various ways to determine what changed and whether this new film can be shot in UNMODIFIED SX-70 cameras:
https://www.analog.cafe/r/polaroid-600-in-sx-70-no-filter-no-mods-no-flash-wpr5
TL;DR: sort-of (it depends).

@analog_cafe imho #Gold has a warm „vintage“ tone, while #ColorPlus is more on the blueish side. The thing is: in Germany I can buy the gold 3-pack for about 19€, so it’s one of my go to cooler films.

Hey #believeinfilm friends,
Today's film review is of Film Ferrania P30:
https://www.analog.cafe/r/film-ferrania-p30-film-review-dxem
It's an iconic emulsion that was made famous in the anglophone markets thanks to the incredible style and narrative of Italian cinema of the 1960s. And it's new Ferrania's first resurrected film.
It's one of the few films that I was able to confidently recognize amongst others for its unique contrast and resolution. Check it out.

Hey #believeinfilm friends,
Have you made up your mind about the new Rollei 35AF yet?
I got to play with it the other day and had a few questions about the camera answered by MiNT's team in this overview/first impressions post:

Hey #believeinfilm friends,
I've recently updated the MiNT Rollei 35AF instruction manual to the latest version.
It includes everything you need to get started, how it works, and technical specifications:

Hey #believeinfilm friends,
How are you celebrating #polaroidWeek ?
I'm thinking of making Sol Prints, a technique I discovered and published back in 2014:
