  1. Anyway, don't even peek at the geometry nodes of #SurfacePsycho add-on, it might give you a headache, and you risk not finding your way out! That's how it is for every #NURBS surface, it's packed with nodes and math. It's mind-blowing to think that everything was built using geometry nodes. #b3d #Blender3D #CAD #STEP #IGES

  2. The #SurfacePsycho add-on for #Blender can now import #NURBS files as actual NURBS #surfaces, not meshes. It's the biggest leap forward #b3d has seen in years when it comes to Nurbs, and it's awesome to finally be able to bring in #IGES or #STEP surfaces. It works on Linux, Windows, and macOS too, a huge step for the Blender community! #CAD

  3. The Italian Job in Europe...😂

  4. These are some mechanical #3D models I made back when I was working in the #mechanical #engineering field. I created them with #Rhino3D 2.0, at the time I had zero experience with the software and taught myself just by reading the user manual that came with it. The company actually bought Rhino on my recommendation; before that we were all using AutoCAD, and I’d only been messing around with Blender for a few months. Back then, not many people in the mechanical sector were using Rhino. #CAD

  8. When's #Mastodon gonna roll out support for #WebP animations? It should also start handling video formats like #WebM or #MKV, a social for nerds and geeks oughta be one of the first to jump on that, especially since they're open formats with no royalties. #opensource #socialmedia

  10. After starting to mess around with #Bézier curves in #Blender and Inkscape, I tried them out in #Plasticity and #Rhino too, and now I’ve decided I’m definitely using them whenever I’m working with #NURBS surfaces. A single-span degree-3 curve lets me make pretty much any shape with the fewest points possible and get perfectly smooth surfaces… plus there are a bunch of other perks! #CAD #b3d

  15. A really cool video about Luigi #Colani, this super unconventional designer I’d never heard of. Gotta admit he made his mark, even though his style isn’t really my thing, I’m way more conventional, but the video itself is awesome. #designer #style #products #design #modern

  18. Did you know that if you export Grease Pencil objects to SVG with camera-relative clipping, using an orthographic camera that matches the render's aspect ratio, and then edit the SVG file by swapping the units from "px" to "mm," you end up with an SVG that has spot-on measurements?
    For example, an A3 (420x297), render at 4200x2970, orthographic camera scale = 4.2 #b3d #Blender3d #Blender #inkscape #CAD #QCAD

  19. I always figured #NURBS curves would be easier to work with than #Bézier ones, but boy, was I wrong. I tried replicating some hull curves in a #CAD, and I just couldn't nail them as perfectly as I do with Béziers. NURBS take a ton of points to get right, but with Bézier handles, it's a total breeze. 😍 #b3d #vector surfaces. now i get why IceM Surf dudes prefer that..

  24. In the end, with #Blender's geometry nodes, I finally nailed exporting the Bézier curves I used to build this hull. I went with a line as the profile and cranked the resolution up from 12 to 128. That cut down the error when I imported the model as a SubD, way less mismatch with the NURBS. Then, in #MoI3D, I fired up the Network command and whipped up the hull using the exact same lines, no snags at all on the first go with NURBS. With Nurbs I matched the real dimensions :)
